Both options are previously owned, which is what I am looking for. I have a diamond that I''ve had for about 20 years, about 1 carat, that I''m ging to have set in whatever option I choose.

I had initially assumed that I was going with platinum, and his wedding band is already purchased and platinum. However, I am open to white gold.

I do like a simple setting to highlight the diamond, and I found this A Jaffe setting in platinum for $450. It is only the e-ring. I haven''t been successful thus far in finding a wedding band that I like to go with it, but I''m sure it wouldn''t be impossible and I have time.

The next set I found accidentally as I was looking for a wedding band for the first one. I fell in love with it. It is white gold and both rings can be bought for $1400.

Which would you pick?

Which is the better bargain?

I LOVE the fluid beauty of the 1st ring. It looks like it was just poured! Very modern, elegant. The second looks antique, vintage...which look are you wanting?

Interesting.

I was not really wanting an antique look, and I''d say overall I am a modern girl. The second set didn''t strike me as vintage looking, and it''s not the vibe I''m seeking. I really appreciate that observation.

I had considered stacking two of these (one on each side of the e-ring) for the wedding band(s). They are white gold, and I don''t think I want to pay the premium for platinum.

What do you think of that idea?

The second does have that antique look. The first is modern and sleek. (neither are really my style, but the second looks to be sitting rather high up and that would bother me. . .the other looks lower set.)

I''m still liking the second set. I dont really get the antiquey feel though. It usually takes some milgrain work on
it for me to get that agtiquey feel. I just think the second set is a show stopper...but you got to feel it KWIM?

I really like the first one too... Simply beautiful.

I like the first ring better. It''s simple and elegant. I love antique-looking rings, and I don''t think the wedding set has an antique feel. Actually this wedding band with pave-set diamonds and milgrain edging (which you want to stack) looks more antique to me.

I think the first one with that band would be to die for!

I like the first one. you''ll have so many more options for bands. the second set is pretty too, I''m just not a huge fan of curved wedding bands.

My problem with bands for the first setting is the euroshank. I see lots of beautiful platinum and diamond bands, but it is rare to find a euroshank...especially because I refuse to pay new or custom prices. I''d love to stack a couple of micropave bands with it...

I''m open to that idea, but nothing has hit me like the platinum A Jaffe for that price. I like the ring you posted, but I love the A Jaffe and I think it is a better value, too.

I''m not really set on a designer ring. I care more about design and value.

Would it be a terrible idea to put white gold next to platinum? This band has a euroshank.

I personally wouldn''t put WG next to platinum. some of the experts here have advised against it although many members have done it or have family members who have done it without any problems. I also just have a thing about the metals matching though.

If you really love the A Jaffe solitaire than get it. Keep hunting for a deal on a euroshanked wedding band or since you are getting such a great deal on the e-ring setting you could easily justify the splurge for having A Jaffe make your wedding band just for you

I think that the first setting you posted with the first wedding band you wanted (the stacking one) would look great together. I agree that the second one does have more of an antique look to it.

I''ve heard mixed reviews on putting platinum next to white gold, too, and it isn''t my first choice...

I''m too much of a person who needs a deal to buy new or custom... Maybe part of it is the thrill of the hunt, but I love finding what I love for the best possible price.

I think the second one is very nice and a pretty good bargain overall. I also like the first one because it''s modern and you can change up your wedding bands as well to dress it up. But I''m personally one for having my e-ring do most of the sparkling work. If you think you''ll be upgrading your band at some point, then maybe going with the first one would be best. I''m on the sentimental side so IMO I would go with the second, because in my mind, it''s not something I would want to change for quite some time. Either choice though, is absolutely beautiful!

Hehe. I''m not an upgrader, either. I''m sentimental, too, and whatever I choose will be what I stick with.
