Just a quick post to thank Jonathan at Good Old Gold and his efficient and friendly staff, as well as PSers here who helped us reach our decision to purchase this beautiful H&A stone for our upcoming anniversary!
Jonathan believes in an educated consumer and will go to extremes to make sure he satisfies any doubts by making up a video of the stone(s) in question within a few hours ! He was so patient both on the phone and in emails in responding to any questions we had, and was even happy to explain further when we still asked more!
The diamond was more stunning than we expected and when it arrived we were in awe! Everything was exactly as outlined . Even spending a large amount of money was a pleasure due to the superior customer service we got from this company.
We are so thrilled and just wanted to let everyone know that our experience was 100% positive and we highly recommend dealing with this reputable company and honourable man.
Thank you Jonathan so much!
Thank you everyone who jumped in to give their honest opinions .

So happy to hear you love your new stone! Can you tell us what you chose? Is it being set? We''ll need pictures when you get your ring!!!

Thanks, Diamondseeker. It is so clear and sparkly! I am still playing with it in different lighting, but I have not yet taken it out of the ring-claws to see the hearts through the scope on the underside. Maybe tomorrow. It''s like bringing a new baby home and hoping you don''t drop it!
I did go with the 2.40 round H&A H VS2 which turned out to be the perfect combination for me. The H colour is so white because the cut is so perfect! I was bothered by anything I could see with my naked eye and having a VS2 I do not see anything. Even with the 10x magnifier, it is just like a clear bubble and is so tiny . Glad I didn''t have to spend more money to go higher to a VS1 or VVS . This is just right!
I will take my time to make sure I find the right setting. Not in a rush , but I will let you know when I get that all arranged, and then post the photos when done! I did send Leon M. an email to see how and if he can deal with Canadians. The loose stone was imported without duty, but not sure what happens with a setting. Still more research to do.
BTW, your rings look gorgeous!

Congrats!! Jonathon does a great job with the videos. I can''t wait to see pics. I bet it''s a stunner!!

You could always take some pics of the stone loose, we''re not picky.

In a selfish sense I''m disappointed...only b/c I was eying up that stone. I didn''t really expect it to last 6 months for me though, haha.

Congrats and I''d love to see ANY pictures so snap away, bro!!!

Congrats on your purchase and thanks for the feedback regarding GOG...it''s really valuable to guys like me who are still searching.

I think you made a great decision!

I also have an H VS1 stone from GOG and it is totally white to my eyes. I am glad you feel the same way! And thanks for the compliment on my rings! I think the Leon Mege setting is a perfect compliment to a perfectly cut stone! But I am sure your ring will turn out beautifully no matter what setting you choose!

IronMikey- just out of curiosity, how long ago did you see that stone ? I get the feeling it was not there too long. Hard to find that size with all those specs!
Don''t hesitate to deal with Jonathan. I am confident he can find you just what you are looking for, at a fair price. He is a very unique vendor in that he is very trustworthy and true to his word. Hope that helps!

Uhhh, I''d guess about 3 weeks ago? I am searching in the 1.8 - 2.5ish ct range so I know I spotted that rock and really liked it. I hope something like that comes along again.

I love VS2''s b/c you cut cost in an area that doesn''t matter (at least to me). You can''t spot inclusions even with a loop. It''s just like I''d never buy a stereo for more money that the improved sound could only be heard with super special earphones...did that make sense?

In sum, I think you made a great purchase. You better show it off on here!

Thanks ironmikey,
Actually, maybe I am super sensitive to diamonds but I can see the inclusion with the 10x loupe. As I mentioned it appears as a clear tiny bubble which doesn''t affect the clarity or sparkle at all. There are maybe 2 or 3 even tinier ones closer to the edge but so small and clear they are so insignificant. This is a VS2 , not an IF , so I would expect to see them under magnification. I think of them as a birthmark, which make my diamond unique. Besides the laser inscribed identity, these inclusions would be a way of identifying my own stone.
I also came across this one a few months earlier than expected, but when you see a good one come up next time, try not to let it go. Seems like the great ones over 2 ct are getting harder to find. I wish you good luck in your search, and hope you will find one that makes you as happy as I am with this one!
I am sure if you work with Jonathan you will be successful in your search!

Thanks for the well wishes!

When you made your purchase did you try to negotiate on price or did you just pay GOG''s asking price? I started another thread about this but I figured the experience was fresh in your mind.

PS - PICTURES!!! Sorry, I just can''t wait.

Wow, your stone sounds beeeeautiful; can''t wait to see it

Thanks, Skippy : )
IronM- it''s like everybody else said on the other thread. You can ask but we found it much more fair that they treat everybody the same. The bank wire saved us quite a bit over the credit card price.
Where we come from, to do all those reports would have cost us a lot extra, too, and here they were all right there in front of us. Every detail was made available so that we as consumers can make a very educated decision on a big purchase.

Spirit,
I am looking at some H stones VS2 Hearts and Arrows too with GOG too and have been wondering about the color. It is really reassuring to hear you say that H is white. Did you consider any G stones?

AnitaT:
I am glad my experience can help others like you in your quest!
I was looking for a particular size and this was the only one available at the time. Originally I was thinking G SI1 but this one was H VS2 . Price became a factor as it was already more than we had anticipated. Turns out I am happier with the less significant inclusion and the colour is so white and bright that I can't imagine spending more on a G when the cut is so optimal that it makes the H look better than I could have imagined.
I am not kidding. My eyes are colour sensitive and if it would have a yellow tinge I would send it back!

Thanks for your comments and congratulations!
