thank you for such a lovely welcome back; it''s good to be here and i intend to make a pest of myself post-haste!

tuckins – i''ve been checking out the eye candy section – oh my! there’s definitely been some movement there!

april – some of the grass held its own, but some died a sad death. i’m hoping i’ll gain a little ground each year as it puts down better roots. fingers crossed!

upgrade, i have to say – the complete absence of stress made the difference. i dropped everything, took a vacation, and just dialed back my responsibilities right across the board. i worked a whole lot less, too, and it did me all kinds of good. i also got a lot more sleep, and the increased rest and relaxation seemed to ‘cool’ my system down – ie the inflammation subsided a lot.

all up, i feel like a new woman - or perhaps the old one from some years ago - and have been holding my own for 3 months now. and i''ve gotta say, life is a whole lot easier when you don''t feel as tho your gut is on fire 24/7. yay!

thank you all so much! i thought i''d better start this as a thread as my return seemed to be threadjacking a number of topics!

gemgirl - my vacation last august was FABULOUS - and my 25th anniversary party was one of the best days of my life; low key, great food, family and friends, in a beautiful setting - and there was jewelry! what more can you ask for than that? i''m actually heading off to australia again on thursday for a couple of months. i need to finish my second book, and tim is sitting an exam at the end of march, so we decided i''d skip the second half of the NY winter (which seems to make my crohns flare up - and i''ve been virtually symptom free for 3 months now, so i dont want to risk this) and go home and write, while he stayed in NY and studied. it will be a productive time all round, we hope.

as i type, i''m sitting in my office waiting for fedex to come and deliver me 2 diamonds i''ve ordered from Blue Nile. over the last 2 years i''ve been collecting diamonds for a tapered 5 stone ring; 2 x .25, 2 x .32 and 1 x .4. i''ve been collecting stones with identical stats, so it''s taken a while, and i saw the last 2 together in their inventory yesterday, so have snapped them up. i''ve been talking to leon mege about doing the setting, as well as an eternity stacker (platinum, .03 stones, bead set, milgrain edge). i''m also getting what i need together for a pair of pearl and diamond drop earrings from BGD. all these things will be for my 50th in june, so watch this space!

and VRBeauty - your signature cracks me up! if thursday can be the new friday, what can we do with the same old monday?

I don''t blame you one little bit for wanting to flee from the cold we''ve been having this winter in NY. It''s been really awful, and believe me, if I had some place I could snowbird to, I''d leave in a heartbeat!

The new pieces you''re planning sound very exciting! I know what you mean about collecting diamonds for a five stone. It took me seven months to find five exact matches, but I love the hunt. I think it''s half the fun. I''m going to look forward to seeing your new treasures.

OK, Whitby, I found the thread (and even read it) and as I read it one of my questions was the one that was asked above by jet2ks: how are the dogs? Who has them, you or Tim? Are they here in New York? How about some new photos? Surely Tim can take some of the dogs while he is taking some of your charm bracelet...unless the dogs are in Australia .
