A couple of weeks ago, my future son in law asked me to help him in the purchase of an engagement ring for my daughter.
I had had an experience purchasing a diamond on 47th street several years ago. It was a horribly cut stone, that I purchased as an uneducated consumer after much pressure from the dealer. Thanks to Pricescope, this time, we spent untold hours studying and asking questions which were instantly answered with care. Perusal of the reviews led us to contact various vendors: ERD, Union, Whiteflash and I.D. Jewelry. Every one of the people with whom we dealt gave of their time to help us in this search. Jeff Baer at Union was wonderful. As time was of the essence, we decided to visit Engagement Rings Direct and I.D. Jewelry, both located in the diamond district in Manhattan. Mark of ERD, and Israel of I.D. had both put aside stones for us to see. Mark spent an incredible amount of time with us, really teaching us what to look for in a diamond. Neither cared that we weren''t purchasing a huge, perfect diamond. They found the stones that were perfect for us. While, we would have felt comfortable purchasing from either dealer, in the end we went with Mark because of the time he was able to spend with us. Thanks to every one here for their time and candor. The recommended jewelers are class acts.
