I've loved the Tony-Award winner Dame E. for decades.
I'll miss her.

Dame Edna Everage is a character created by the Australian comedian Barry Humphries in 1955.
She had a TV series where she interviewed celebrities.
She had a sly way of disguising an insult as flattery.

I read that many of her best lines were ad libbed on the spot.
With such a quick and brilliant wit, (s)he had to be a genius.

This pic is a good example of flattery (to Australia Sydney Opera House) that is also an insult (to the tackiness of some fashion).

I think when the Queen participates in your comedy you've pretty much made it.

Here the jab is roasting the Queen for always being the last to arrive.

We've lost an icon. He's just one of those people that I figured would always be around. I can't quite grasp that he's gone yet.

Madge was the perfect sidekick for The Dame E. E..

IMO, she was a much more effective sidekick than was Ed McMahon for Jonny Carson.
It always looked like Ed was struggling too hard for something to say, and this awkwardness kinda dimmed Carson sparkle.

Madge just didn't give a sh!t.
She was the perfect opposite of the excessively-opinionated bulldozer, The Dame!
