Tension Mounting & Diamond Breakage

Hello, I''ve had a 1ct solitaire for nearly 10 years in a gents mounting and I''ve decided to get it remounted in a Gelin Abaci gents tension mounting. Since I have to work through a local jeweler they sent it to Gelin Abaci and I received a call from my jeweler and they said GA called them and wants them to sign a form saying if the diamond breaks that they are not responsible. Evidently if your stone has an inclusion this is their policy. Does anyone on here have any real experience with GA or have heard of a stone breaking. They said that once they mount the stone if it didn''t break, it won''t break. I really like this mounting and obviously the stone. My jeweler tried getting GA to at least rate what the chances for damage were and they would not commit to anything. Is there anyone on here that can provide an educated thought on what I should do. I have insurance on the ring which covers damage by repair but I''m not sure how well I would deal with the stone breaking regardless if it will be replaced by insurance.

we talked with g&a when but ended up with a steven kretchmer, neither asked for us to sign a waiver though, they must be asking because the inclusion is close to the girdle?

I would check with your insurance as to whether it might be covered. I imagine it wouldn''t but it doesn''t hurt to try.

Other than that it is a tough call. So G&A get everyone who has a stone with an inclusion to sign a waiver? That means pretty much everyone then right, as how many people have an IF or Fl stone?

Again like MikeRato I have enquired with Kretchmer and they said that they wouldn''t set it if they thought it might break.

Maybe find out what G&A''s standard policy is? and if yours is a special case?
