Kenny, you are not allowed to complain about hot temps after all your temp check posts bragging about how warm it is where you are when the rest of us are freezing. LOL

HI:

31C. Yes AC.

cheers--Sharon

High today was 82. Real feel 86. Yes I have A/C.

When I moved into my house in 2006, I had air con installed, and everyone I knew said I was mental to have air con in UK.

The one in the bedroom is turned on when the temperature is above 19degC/66.2degF, otherwise I would struggle to sleep.

I can tolerate a bit higher temperature downstairs before switching on the AC.

When I was designing my RV, I made sure AC was a must have item.

I was a little smug when the temperature hit above 35degC/95degF in the past couple of months.

The latest comments are not about having air con, but still being to use it due to the recent electricity price hike! :roll2:

DK :cool2:

75* and feels delightful. Praying for rain though. Everything is dying and the leaves are already falling. :(

How on earth did I know this would be your response? (I can’t make the laughing emojis work on my phone so just picture a yellow cartoon laughing, thanks)

Doesn't bragging about warmth, then complaining about warmth cancel out?

In recent days, weather has been pretty ideal in Boston - mid 70's-low 80's during the day, 60's in the evening.

Until recently, we never had more than a week or two where a few days would be uncomfortably warm in the house. We live in an old house and on those days we would spend time in the family room which had a window A/C - things would cool off enough at night that where the ceiling fans would suffice for sleeping.

We did put in central A/C about 5 years ago - just in time as the past few years have had many extremely hot weeks - this summer was particularly bad.

Today’s high in southeast Michigan was 89. We keep our house at 70. If your house is warmer than 75, don’t invite me to your terrarium, you lizard.

70! Do you hand out sweaters?
I keep notching the AC up, 78, 80. I'm summer-adapted. Or maybe it's what my mother said about me . . "You really have to sun yourself on a rock in the morning, don't you?"

78 with fans blowing.
I have to have fans moving air year round.

Its 11pm. still feels like 91 degrees (actual temp currently is 84 AC is on. I usually keep it 78 during the daytime and 75 at night. 90s the next 2 weeks but thats expected.

I’ve been lucky this year. No extreme weather. We usually experience floods, heat waves, dry spells, tornadoes, etc. So far we haven’t had any of those extreme activities.

Tonight it is 69 degrees at midnight with little breeze and no precipitation. Pretty typical for an early September evening in the Midwest.

Yes I think this is the hottest summer we’ve ever had in my memory. It’s so nice now to be able to sit outside in the morning with low humidity and nice temps. Now we just need some rain to break the drought.

The high today will be 75 degrees with very low humidity. It is getting down into the 50’s at night.

This is really weird.
I've lived in this house in this beach city almost 25 years and don't recall it ever reaching 106 - or LA County's inland cities being cooler than here at the beach.

Fortunately I do a poor man's AC.
I open and then close all windows twice a day, when temp inside and outside match on my internal/external digital thermometer.
In summer I'm opening windows around 6 PM and closing around 9 AM.
Similar times in winder but swap the opening and closing.
I think of it as nature's AC, which is free.

Right now it's 106 outside, but only 85 inside.
Our house's 100 yr old heavy dense lath and plaster interior walls and original old exterior stucco work wonders to insulate the house both summer and winter.
Our neighbors (who have replaced their original lath and plaster with drywall, even with insulation) can't believe how much cooler our house is than theirs - and with no AC bill or the carbon footprint all that electricity causes.

All our windows are original single pane, but I line all the windows (that get direct sun) with those mylar reflective emergency survival blankets all summer.

One thing I love about a very hot sunny day is my sun tea gets an amazingly rich, deep and complex flavor! :lickout:

You need a swamp cooler.

You need a swamp cooler.

Actually this house had one on its roof before I bought the house.

I knew little about them so googled them.
They sound MUCH better for the environment since they use a fraction of the electricity that AC uses, and don't need those AC chemicals that are hazardous to the environment. (even the replacement for freon)
They do increase the relative humidity in the house though, which is great if you live in a very dry location like Arizona.

Without a swamp cooler or AC this beach city has ideal Relative Humidity for my piano and guitars, and don't want to risk getting mold and mildew in the house.

I complain here (mostly to piss off monarch64 ;)2 :lol-2:) but IMO having no AC and suffering a bit is a badge of honor.
But if I lived in the midwest or Florida or the tropics I'd toss out that badge in a hummingbird heartbeat.
It's uncomfortable only for around 2 weeks a year.
AC is bad for the wallet, and bad for the planet.

Confession, I do use my car's AC when it's near 90 F, but only when going over 45 MPH.
Below 45 I open windows.
Even with the extra gas consumed by the additional drag from open windows you use less gas (under 45 MPH) than if you close the windows use AC.
Over 45 MPH using AC with closed windows uses less gas.
