kenny, you're gloating!!!!!

Meanwhile I'm freezing my patootie off. It's 25 degrees this morning, which I guess beats the 15 degrees it's been, and I have a new head cold that's getting on my nerves! I can't get warm, no matter what I do.

Head colds are the worst. There was this one episode of Mary Tyler Moore that I cannot forget. She was so sick and miserable, and she could not even have a fever to prove it with her head cold.

I get some really funky colds that escalate because I teach small children. It never ceases to amaze me when I see the excretion from some children's noses that their parents deem is allowable to attend school.

35 degrees here today was the high...right now it's probably in the teens. We have a beautiful 6 or 8 inches of snow on the ground, with litle wind, and not much ice underneath all of it. The snow everywhere sort of muffles the sounds of traffic and the usual noise, so it's a bit of a blessing. I, as well as most people where I live, am equipped with good snow boots, super warm or technical outdoor gear with which to stay warm when out in the elements, and life is good...and dare I say it...FUN! Balmy weather is great, but I'm not sure I'd trade having four seasons every year for having mild winters. Skiing, snowboarding, building fires, snuggling, white Christmases, there are just too many good things about living in the Midwest, imo. I was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and grew up believing that warmth year round was best, but I've changed my mind in the past few years. Dealing with all 4 seasons certainly makes one aware that we humans are quite adaptable to change. I am not at all jealous of you this year, Kenny, I have a renewed outlook on life and especially on climate in general and of course on climate change. I'm happy where I am, and I suppose it's good to know that you're happy where you are. Perhaps I should post a new thread about how happy I am that I am alive and satisfied with my own particular climate? :loopy:

Where are you now, monnie?

Do not get caught saying that outloud in Indiana, Monnie! Women from all over the United States make an annual pilgrimage to Indiana to catch the annual Vera Bradley sale and they bring with them anything they can to carry away their "loot". Those purses will bring in thousands of dollars when sold on the secondary market. People everywhere, for decades to come, will be clamoring for the items that Vera Bradley got rid of in its sale!!!

Oh I know honey. I'm just feeling pretty miserable today with this cold and this cold (outside and in my head). I'd sincerely like to spend my older years some place warmer and more pleasant twelve months a year. Yep, gonna' have to leave NY behind some time.

As I am currently freezing my patookus off here in the heart of Texas, of all places, where it should be much warmer than this, I would appreciate it if you did not rub your 78 degrees in my face.

Thanks so much.

I'm afraid it's back to the cold and rain that we usually have this time of year.

Temp- if it's not down to 50, it will be soon, and 40 tonight.

Its a lovely 21 here in Chicagoland. A real heatwave!

It was 84 at my house today. Broke out the umbrella and sat by the pool. Ahhhh.... so cal life.

Sorry I'm gloating... truth be told, in the middle of the summer I hate the heat.

It's 32 today....after 16+ inches of snow last Wednesday...will take months to melt most likely.

:errrr:

You have a pool? (You can out-gloat me! )
I'm jealous, and could use a pool today.
After walking the dogs I was so hot I had to put on shorts.

I have a pool, too. Does that mean I can out-gloat you, too, Kenny? To use it, all you have to do is remove the canvas and crack any

ice underneath it. (There shouldn't be much. We don't keep the pool filled in the winter.)

Well, Deb sounds like you'll have to wait till the summer to outgloat me on this one. :D
Unless your frozen pool is big enough to ice skate on.
If it is I'll be right over. :naughty:

3* here last night, probably 8 right now. That's in F. We're going to Harbin this weekend and it's even much colder there... oh boy!

Last few days, I had to break out the flip flops too.

I went on my morning walk an it was 62 degrees. I thought it was too hot. I rather walk when the early mornings are in the
high forties to low fifties. Waaa......

It's in the 20's. Snowing and are supposed to get ice mixed in tomorrow.. Snow I can handle, but really don't like ice. Hubby is still in FLA. He was saying how chilly it is and how it's raining....

Oh cry me a river!!!!! :cheeky:

I am here taking care of my dear ole Casper who is so old, and can't be left alone. He's sporting a new hand knit sweater but is really hating this cold weather... Poor old man... ::)

Supposed to be 8F today, not sure if it will get that high or not..overnight low tonight is supposed to be 8 below.

1:30pm 28 degrees :errrr: --not a happy camper

Ice storm last nite that turned to slush today--another storm forecast for Thursday into Friday.
