Techy HELP!

I have some mp4 files and cannot play them on my computer! I got them following advice from a student and now I suppose I need to convert them? I would like to be able to edit them and play them in my lectures using powerpoint... Any recommendations for how to accomplish this?

Hope this link works. NCH makes an audio converter that I use. It is great -- very easy and straight forward to use. The basic stuff is free.
You click "add file" to add an entire file of tracks to convert. Fill in the box to select the file you want it to put converted tracks in (I never like to alter the original files). Set what you want it converted to and let it do its thing.
