None for me... but my daughter (26) has maybe 7 or 8 and my son (25) has 11.

Some I can see and some I don''t want to see

I have three and I love them all. The oldest one is 7-8 years old already and needs to be touched up. I thought about changing it or covering it with something new but I couldn''t bear the thought of not being able to see it anymore so I ditched the idea. Each and every one of my tattoos has a special meaning to me, so changing or removing them would be like losing an important memory or rejecting a phase of my life.

I''ve never heard of that new ink so I''m no help there.

I have 2 tattoos that were incorporated into 1 design. My first was a butterfly (my names means butterfly) that I got with my sister and a friend. It hurt a little but was very tolerable. I got the second less than a year later...it''s vines and flowers around the butterfly. It took an hr and a half and I went by myself. That one did hurt. It''s on my left side and stretches from my hip bone up my side/ribs. I love it...my mom says wait until I get pregnant, lol. I''m ready for another...just not sure what to get yet

My other question was how you researched your artist?

It''s easy enough to make sure sterilization and sanitation are up to par, but how do you guarantee quality of an artist''s work? I know many offer books of past work, but they have obviously picked their best works to put in there to try to impressive you, so I don''t really know how representative that sampling can be since it''s obviously biased.

So what kind of research did you do to pick an artist?

To your latest question:

We have tattoo expos in my city. I waited until it came around and went so I could check out alot of artists in 1 place. It costed $20 to attend, but it was worth it. Some people got tattoos at the expo but I waited until it was over to contact the artist whose work I liked best. Then I went it to visit the actual shop to make sure I was happy with it and set up my appointment from there.

I asked friends who had nice art work, and also researched artists on line. Mostly I found them by word of mouth though.

That's a good way to do it.

Also go visit tattoo studios in your area, most SHOULD have portfolios of artists work available for you to look at. Some artists specialize in certain things (my artist is super amazing at traditional work, that's where he shines, his other work is good tho, but doesn't compare to his traditional). If you go to the studio they SHOULD let you see everyone's finished work and you can get a better idea of their style...technique...and talent... I went to a place that didn't have a portfolio of finished work and I walked right out, thats a bad sign. Also don't feel bad about maybe going to 2 or three shops and having them draw up ideas for you, usually they will ask for a small deposit and you get to see which you like best might cost alittle more money because you won't get back a deposit or two from the people you didn't go to BUT you will get a better idea and variety of what can be done. (I would also let the artists know that you are doing this, once again a reputable person should have no problem, if they do warning flags).

I do not have any, but have been thinking about getting one lately... my hubby has two full sleeves, a chest tat, back tat and a few on his legs... he is telling me that if I have not gotten one by now that I probably don''t really want one... lol.
Also he said that I should plan it out very carefully as there are some that he has that he regrets (and is in the process of covering/altering).

I would love to see a picture of a white tattoo... sounds like it would be subtle

Here ya go, posh-Lindsay Lohan''s white tattoo.

I don''t know about that, just not my style I guess. Maybe it''s because my skin is so pale it''d look more like a scar than a tattoo. But I''ve seen some beautiful ones too, usually on darker skin tones.

Yeah, white tattoo would look bad on my skin tone. That, and I love black and grayscale tattoos!

I'm going to go up to Sacred Tatto in the next few weeks, to talk with some of the artists and just check the place out, ask how they feel about the new ink. If all goes well, I'll go back in August to get it done. So excited!

I may or may not be going with a friend for morale support, lol. I"m chatty when I'm nervous, and this way I'll have someone to talk to in case the artist isn't the talkative type.
