Talking about being compared ...

Over the years I have obtained a fair size collection (most never gets worn, lol) of course there are times I wish I had the $$$ to buy a piece that I cannot afford but I am comfortable with what I have. We always want more don't we? lol

My collection does not really reflect PS. I am a bargain hunter and very few PSers are. I’m glad that PS has given me the knowledge to seize a great deal when I find it. I find my tastes so far out there from PS that I don’t post as much of my new pieces. Not because of competition but because I don’t really need affirmation like I used to early on. Lol. I do love the thread on purchase considerations bc you all have talked me out of few pieces. I look forward to all new posts on smtb! No need to compare just eye candy!

Nala - I love seeing what you purchase and what you are considering. I think it instructs us all on what to look for...please keep posting all your finds! Pluse it is good to get some variety from the same vendors we see all the time. I for one am always happy And interested to see what you are cooking up now.

I have always tried to avoid the comparison trap. It IS a trap. Contentment is so much more pleasant a lifestyle. I enjoy what I have. I am happy for others and what they have. Sometimes it brings me inspiration but I usually already know what I like/want. While I enjoy and appreciate all of the beautiful pictures and stories of sparkly journeys shared here, there are only 2 pieces that I would wish to have in my own collection (or some version of).

Of course if someone was giving away a gorgeous piece that isn't on that short list I would not turn it down.

@nala If you feel comfortable please consider posting some of your pieces. I understand you don't need affirmation but there are others of us who tend to be out of the box and/or bargain hunters! Your pieces would find a welcoming (and curious!) audience here.

Some PSers have such finely-honed tastes... The collections that those tastes yield are inspiring. There are so many pieces I admire, but don't necessarily want for myself - some aren't my style, some are unrealistically aspirational, some I couldn't justify as I've got something somewhat similar, or that serves a similar purpose - but I'm thrilled to see them in their owners' collections because they fit so perfectly. And of course there are some pieces I would consider donating part of a limb for - they go into my Want One Day list. Interestingly, none of the things on my Want One Day list is completely out of reach - the devil on my shoulder has some perception of my reality!

Collection threads are my favourites. Coloured gems or pearls or diamonds? Few rings or many? Single-stone pieces or multi? Rings, bracelets, earrings? Modern or vintage? They tell you so much about someone's overall style and preferences
