Talking about being compared ...

I don't like my rings right now. They look too married, probably bc I had in mind how I wanted them stacked when I was MARRIED! (solitaire, space, bling band).

Now when I look at them, I think, "cock blockers". And I don't have the cashflow to reset them.

Should I start a GoFundMe for resetting a winsome widow's bling?

reset the engagement ring to a pendant, wear your wedding band on the right hand. Pinto, you have had a crap of a last few years, but in observing your posts you are doing a boffo (and girl I am not British ;-) ) job of eating the coolest food and meeting interesting people.. I am proud to know you. xo

HI:

The irony is we get "here" for lots of reasons, comparison notwithstanding. It is what it is. But no one has to make it defining/consuming life long scenario. It really is fun/educational/entertaining/upsetting to live other peoples jewellery journey that we might not otherwise have "access" to.

If you can, take what you want and leave the rest.

cheers--Sharon

It's an interesting topic, and it's so nice to read your heart warming responses.

For my own part, when I was first on PS, I was awed. I only had my ruby engagement ring and a blue sapphire solitaire, and everyone's pieces looked inspiring. I duly noted what people loved, and what those stones looked like when set and made a mental note to see some of those for myself. While I will not have the spending power to be playing with colored diamonds, it was satisfying to see the hand shots and be ok with not owning those gems myself. I think every gem that gets worn often and loved becomes part of our lives, and I feel fortunate to have the gems I have, without craving things in the five or six digits. What I love the most is seeing how everyone else sets their stones, the process of creating something greater than sum of the parts. And I love the community of people here who stay on for a long time. Thank you for the eye candy and the sense of friendship.

I appreciate the fact that PS has made me a more savvy consumer, and I love looking at everyone’s bling even if they’re not always styles I would choose for myself. I’m happy with my own collection.

I have no doubt that when the time is right, funds & inspiration will suddenly hit you & you will transform those "clock blockers" into astounding pieces of jewellery.

And make sure you do a bloody good job too, as I'm the one who'll inherit them

My collection does not really reflect PS. I am a bargain hunter and very few PSers are. I’m glad that PS has given me the knowledge to seize a great deal when I find it. I find my tastes so far out there from PS that I don’t post as much of my new pieces. Not because of competition but because I don’t really need affirmation like I used to early on. Lol. I do love the thread on purchase considerations bc you all have talked me out of few pieces. I look forward to all new posts on smtb! No need to compare just eye candy!

The sense of friendship is one of the best parts of PS. Very well said.

I'm envious of all the beautiful diamonds here...

I love that everyone shares their bling I can't have it all but dammit I sure am gonna look! My set collection of stones is small which is fine by me. My unset collection...lol shameful...lol I'm really here for the LOL's and the friendships made over the years. Oh and the drools must have those.

I’m happy with my jewelry collection and feel fortunate to have it AND have a husband who hasn’t killed me yet! I never compare my collection to anyone else’s, I buy my jewelry based on what I want. There will always be someone with a bigger ring, more bling, but bigger isn’t always better and more isn’t always desirable especially if you go broke doing it.
I have been inspired by someone’s collection though, to get a similar ring/ band/ etc. and I am grateful that everyone does post BC I definitely get inspired. Pricescope is like the Pinterest for jewelry.

Ever since I received my DK reset two months ago, I haven’t wanted to upgrade or reset. It seems I am finally content. Prior to this I wanted to upgrade my diamond, change the setting, get different bands, I just wasn’t satisfied.
Now I get to just watch everyone here post their bling fully content with my own. It’s a relief!

I'm happy with my collection. There are so many pieces I never wear but were "must have" at the moment. I take them out every once in awhile to pet them.

I do the same, and playing with my lot makes me happy.

Resurrecting an old thread because I find it an interesting topic... when I first found PS I definitely felt envious sometimes looking at huuuuge rocks or beautiful things that I know I can’t have (I’m not in the position to, or do not want to make those sacrifices for them). It took me a little while to realise that, well, comparison is the thief of joy and I have some things that others would be jealous or envious of, just like others have things I would be jealous or envious of. It’s somehow easier to not be envious of Instagram influencers etc. because you know it’s their job in a way. It’s like watching a movie. A forum like PS feels more real.

I took a few days to come to grips with reality. Now, I can look at these posts and just enjoy. I’m never going to have the 10ctw earrings or the 5ct yellow diamond ring and that’s... ok. Good for the people who do - I can live vicariously through you! :)

I LOVE seeing other people’s collections on PS, it honestly brightens my day. I live vicariously through you all, sharing the hunt, design & final joy of receiving a new piece of bling. Don’t ever stop.... :kiss2:

The PS collection is like a dream!!!! I love seeing stuff and knowing little bits and pieces about people who wear them. Some of the pieces are celebrity level and I get a huge thrill from seeing pictures of them worn by normal people!

I actually find that I'm more envious of the stuff I can afford!!! If someone snags a stone and makes a ring that's in my price range and I love it, then I pine! The other stuff is just airy fairy eye candy that's out of my reach so it's easier to just admire and not be envious that I wasn't the one to nab that rock!

That said I am very happy with what I have and that I've been fortunate enough to own the pieces I do own. Plus there is always room down the track to add more pieces.

I started off with no Jade and now have pretty much everything I want.

Same with that elusive pink stone. I looked for a one for such a long time and finally found it very suddenly at a great price. That kind of stuff keeps the pursuit of jewellery exciting!

What a lovelly thread =)2
I think enjoyment of jewlery is very similar to art
joy can be taken from window shoping weather in a jewlers window, on the internet or on someone's finger

I have mainly rings from the mall and inherited pieces that pale into insignificants compaired to the beautiful big guns on here
But if i had everything i wanted i think i would be bored with nothing to aspire to
I've always had friends and admired some people who earned more than me
Some people's ERs cost more than my house deposite :lol-2:and thats without the exchange rate :mrgreen2:
That's perfectly ok in my book

and i am looking forward to the day you can all help me buy something

but its the people here who have such good hearts that make being here so worth while

Just don't call my pretties sweet ;)2
I know sweet means small

I'm a long time lurker here and not very active on PS. But it's not just the jewels that I love but the story behind it. My favorites are of boyfriends or family members searching for the best stone for an engagement ring. There's so much thoughtfulness that goes through that process.

And the great advice of PS'ers. The knowledge and wisdom has been phenomenal and I'm a more savvy consumer because of it.

I think we all appreciate jewellery whether it's ours or someone else's. I've really enjoyed reading the stories and ideas people come up with for their designs. It's really a form of art!

I shall keep playing the lottery, and would know exactly how I would spend the money on some very nice blings I win big!

DK :lol-2:

My bestie has a list of everything I've ever wanted. If she wins the lottery she is going to buy me some of it! She promised!

Pricescope has been both a blessing and a curse, mostly blessing though. LOL As mrs.B said, PS shows you what is possible & that couldn't be more true. I enjoy reading about the various paths members take in regards to their bling journey. I'm not sure how much more I'll add to my collection as I have my basic pieces which I wear daily when I'm not at work. I have 3 watches which I adore. Some items I didn't connect with I sold, others I absolutely had adored but realized, heartbreakingly, the projects weren't going to come to fruition, I sold. At present, I'm upgrading to a diamond size I always dreamed of having but never dreamed I'd have. I want to repurpose an empty setting, & I need to alter up a family necklace I had DK rework for me (dangle doesn't match the style of necklace), and maybe rework my studs into huggie style (damn you arthritis!). Other than that I'm almost done. I'm working on collecting a few small pieces for my niece and nephew for milestone events. I recently had a distance backyard visit with a PS'r. We had a lovely afternoon of gabbing & admiring bling. Her collection BLEW MY MIND. LOL I was like..:oops2: So many gorgeous pieces & so many gorgeous stones. Ugh, beautiful. Then I pull out my little pouch. LOL LOL And of course, I was wearing most of my collection. LOL During the years there have been a lot of "jewelry goals" threads. I found my original list. So funny to see like, 35 items now pared down to 12. LOL Thank goodness I'm becoming more of a minimalist as I get older. It's a heck of a lot cheaper that way!

Pinto Bean, when you are ready for your diamond reset, start a thread. I wear my diamond on my left hand mainly because I'm right handed & no way am I going to wear something so valuable on my right hand where I'll most likely bang it on something. My ring doesn't look like an e-ring, more dinner or cocktail style but without the extravaganza of the 70's or 80's. LOL I wear my eternity wedding band as a stacker on my right hand. So either way, at a casual glance some cultures might think I'm engaged with my ring on my left hand & some might think I'm married wearing my band on my right hand. :twirl: =)

@ccuheartnurse I wear mine on my left too! I am right handed as well and knock things around, so I do not wear any rings on the right. I wear one at a time, only on the left. It feels too constricting to write with a ring on my right as well- and yes, it's sized properly, I just don't like the feeling. I also cannot wear a bracelet or watch on my right.

I like that PS is great for education and what you can do with a budget. It's bad for being eye opening and making you aware of things you didn't know you wanted or liked before.

I didn’t have a ring for almost thirty years of marriage, started with a five stone, and then got a larger stone to set into my five stone and graduated the other stones. I did all this right BEFORE ps. My ring is very, very pretty. it is one of the prettiest rings I see IRL and people tell me so. It is only average, if that, here. It’s not just size — it’s the quality of the center stone and the prong work. Interestingly, I became more active on here because of more time during quarantine but also because I have a big birthday coming up next year, and my husband is happy to let me upgrade.

But. A funny thing happened on the way to the upgrade. The more I looked at rings, realizing I could have anything (up to a point, of course — no 3 carats were on the table) — well, suddenly nothing felt particularly special. Nothing made my heart sing. And my own ring started to feel pretty perfect.

However, stay tuned because that could change!

But I love seeing everyone’s breathtaking stuff, hearing their stories, and getting to “know” great people here!

It hadn't occurred to me to compare my collection to others' but I'm glad of that now that I consider it. We have different spirits and the expression of them in all their multiplicity is what makes Pricescope such a rich source of inspiration!

My little fistful of bling is a result of random opportunity, luck, and a keen eye, in that order. Having said that, my most recent find has satisfied me on a level that none of my other pieces ever did, and I'm really trying to stay connected to that feeling of contentment.
