Hey everyone --Awaiting a diamond my hubby ordered online (James Allen) as a 10th anniversary treat for me. A few specs:

G color
SI1 clarity
2.86 carats, Round Brilliant
AGS Triple 0 cut (Ideal Cut)

I don't even have the stone yet but I am already daydreaming about the next step...choosing a setting I will absolutely love.

Locally, we have very little to look at so I am pretty sure it'll be another online deal for me.

At this point, the whiteflash Legato settings intrigue me. They look so custom and I love that simple, delicate and feminine prong/head style..but I am torn between thinking I want the Legato with micropave, the Legato with shared prong or the Diamonds for an Eternity 3/4 ring -- with Legato head on it, which they told me they could do, or finally - the harmoeny engagement setting which also has the legato head. Whichever one I choose, I'd do the matching w-band with it. I love the look of the micropave one, but have tried on (locally) some micropave bands that did not sparkle one bit.The stones are so, so tiny (and in the case of local stores, possibly not great stones)...that they sorta just sit there. For those of you who own or have seen the micropave Legato setting, does the micropave sparkle?? My feeling is that the Legato micropave setting will really focus on my center stone and make it look as large as possible - beacuse its so delicate in width, but I'd still want sparkle. The shared prong Legato or the diamonds for an eternity 3/4 setting would probably look at lot blingier, wouldn't they? Where would the Harmony setting fit in sparkle-wise? In the middle?

Those of you that are familar with these settings -- please post your opinions and/or pictures! I did a search on here and found a few pics, but I also want opinions, comments, etc about those settings..

FYI - I am smallish with smallish hands (short, small fingers that are smaller than my 12 year old daughter's hands) -- I wear a size 3.75 or 4 on my ring finger on my left hand...if that has any input.

Any comments/advice?

Hi

I see you are from the Palmetto state (at least your avatar says so)! I have a lot of family in Columbia and the outer areas.

I think the three settings you are considering are quite lovely. I have a Whiteflash designed setting similar to the Harmony setting. There is definitely sparkle with the micropave (I have 2 pointers). But a better description would be *shimmer.* I based my setting on Lynn B''s beautiful setting and I remember reading on her thread about the shimmer effect of the pave. My stone is small and so I didn''t want too much sparkle on the shank so as to compete with the center stone. I am quite happy with my choice. And I think you are right...the shimmer/sparkle of the micropave is going to depend on the quality of stones that are used.

Out of 3 that you mention, I love Lynne''s ring best, the Harmony. I have seen a similar ring in person & wondered about the "shimmering" aspect of it. It shines like there''s no tomorrow. I know it didnt look like big chunky flashes like a shared prong would have, but still very blingy & with a 2.86, would look fabulous.

I''m more of a bling girl, although I''ve tried to deny it to myself. I much prefer the shared prong settings to the pave because I think even the small diamonds provide more sparkle. I also like to use an ultrasonic cleaner on my jewellery, so personally I''d worry about the pave. Well, that, and the fact that I like to wear my rings all the time except for sleeping. I might be a bit harder on them than you would be. JMO though. I know pave is very fashionable right now, and my husband insists that if it''s done properly there should be no problems.

lyra: i hear what you''re saying. I do put my rings in the US and haven''t had any problems. Maybe I am wrong for doing that, but like I said so far so good. And you probably can''t tell from the pics, but on the Harmony setting, there are very tiny prongs holding the melee in place. So that makes me feel pretty secure (no pun intended).

I do try and have the prongs checked every few months to make sure everything is in place. I say all that not to contradict you, but to assure the OP and others that the pave is secure at least on the Harmony setting.

Oh, don''t worry, not a contradiction at all. My husband agrees completely with you!

I just meant I''m not very careful about my rings, I do wear them hard, don''t take them off for anything. I''m more superstitious about it really--my husband really does argue with me about properly set pave being fairly bullet proof.

For your stone and your options I would hands down pick the harmony version that lynnb has. Here is the thread with pictures of her ring: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/finally-gorgeous-new-fishtail-pave-set-from-wf.46129/. I think her set is really to die for and one of my favorites on PS. It''s delicate, lets the center stone shine, and the elements of the ring are really well-designed with beautiful detail. As others have stated, the sparkle is more like a shimmer...

ditto!!!

Lyra, you know what''s funny is that my husband thinks like you! He thinks that because of the possibility of losing a stone, I should have thought twice about the pave. I was the one convincing him that the pave was secure.

Double ditto. Lynn''s rings are gorgeous! But if you want a shared-prong set, I''d go with Memoire. Someone else has a thread on that right now.

This is the second thread-jack I''ve done today (my apologies)

Get outta here DS! It''s a small, small world. I really love to visit SC especially Columbia. It''s city-like but still quaint in a way. I think I''m about due for a visit.

It is a small world! I like Columbia a lot, too! I live in NC now. Tacori E-ring and I have gotten together in Charlotte before. We need to have another NC/SC get together soon.
