Hey all-
First time poster here. I bought an engagement ring a few weeks ago and just yesterday received the lab report listing the table space, depth percentage, angles, etc. This information was not provided to me at the time of purchase - only the color, clarity, carats, and cut were provided. As the center stone is an oval diamond, GIA did not provide an official cut grade for it. Instead, the cut was graded in-house by the vendor as "excellent." Figuring the cut grade to be trustworthy, I made the purchase.
Now that I see the lab report, I have some buyer's remorse. My qualm is with the table space of the diamond, which is listed as 63. This apparently is on the high-end for what the table space should be for an oval diamond, and I don't know how it could be graded "excellent" with that number. Here are the rest of the specs:
Depth % - 62.4
Table size % - 63
Crown height % - 12.9
Crown angle - 34.7 deg
Pavillion Depth % - 44.6
Pavillion angle - 41.9%
Girdle thickness - medium to slight thick
The diamond looks "fine" to me; however, I know it could look better with a smaller table. I am still within the return period and I'm wondering if I should make an exchange. The problem is that I was planning to propose soon. Thoughts?
