Taking care of platinum bands

My wife''s engagement and wedding band are both platinum, not sure of the width maybe 6mm its pretty thin. They''re getting pretty beat up considering she works a desk job, the bottom of the ring is completely flattened. Is this normal?

Yes, platinum is durable but fairly soft. A good jeweler should be able to restore it. The good news is that it won''t lose any metal when it''s polished/bumped/scratched. It just gets pushed around.

Ditto, a good polishing 1-2x a year should take care of it. Platinum is a soft, but dense metal.
