Hello pearl experts!
This year, I have been working on collecting jewelry staples. I have gotten great advice here and now I am turning to pearls! I would like one pair of studs and one pair of drop shapes. I tried on a few pairs at a store to determine the best sizes and color for my face. For studs, it looks like 6-6.5 mm white-pink Akoya is the most flattering (I have a pair of 7-7.5 mm freshwater and they look weird sticking out at the sides of my head). I also had a pair of freshwater white 9.5-10 mm drops from a department store that I wore all the time, but lost one. So I am looking to replace those with WSS drops in the same size. I did reach out to Andrew Moline for gem quality Akoya studs, but he does not have any at that size at the moment. So, reading all the great reviews of Takahashi and admiring all the pictures on their Instagram, I reached out to them. For both pairs, I asked for best quality luster and matching, but some minor flaws on the pearl are otherwise ok with me. I have requested a quote from Pearl Paradise to drill and set the drops, since I like their setting options better.
I would like to get any opinions and advice on the options Takahashi presented to me. Luster and matching are the most important factors. The top pair of pearl drops are cheaper because they have a small scratch on the back of the pearl on the right (I don't think this would bother me). For stud settings, I think the middle one ($90) seems like the appropriate size for a smaller pearl, for an adult? Thanks!
