Have any of you ever taken a class for Tai Chi? I am thinking of taking one which starts soon, but I was curious what other people thought of it.

I once took one with my mom in an effort to get her off the couch and moving (she''s a big walker now, so thank goodness! but she was pretty sedentary for a while there).

It was fun! I''m spatially dim so I found it a bit hard to figure out which leg went where, initially, but once I got the hang of it I really enjoyed it.

Go for it.

It seems neat and centering and I really think people enjoy it.

I''ll be the dissenting opinion here. I took one tai chi class in college and didn''t particularly like it. I got antsy and bored, but I don''t really have the patience for things like that (I don''t think I''d like yoga much either). If you''re ok with slow moving, deep breathing type things, I''m sure you''ll like it.

I did a tai chi course once and nerver did it at home when the course was over. But when I went to a health retreat with all did this in the dawn every morning and it was magic. Again never did when i went home thought
But if I could go down to the local park every morning as they do in China and do a big group lesson I would be ther every morning.

It looks like fun! There was a park where I used to work and I could see it when I went for lunch and breaks. I used to see a tai chi class there in the mornings. I wished I could go join them! I don''t seem to be able to work that into my schedule right now (and I noticed a lot of retirement aged folks there) but I''d love to do it in the morning during the spring and fall. Hey, it can''t hurt to try it, right? If you do I''d be interested to read what you think about it.

Ha, that is exactly how I''m afraid I''m going to react. I am doing this mainly for stress reduction purposes so we''ll see how it goes. I tend to be pretty uptight so I''m not sure if I''ll be able to relax enough for this!
I sent in the form today and classes start next week. I''ll let you all know how it goes! I know a lot of elderly people do this, so I''m hoping I''m not the only 30 something there!

Good luck with it! Let us know how you like it!
