Tacori Remount Troubles

Hi, PriceScope members,

I've been enjoying reading posts on here for about a year now. Today, I officially joined and have a question. I acquired a Tacori setting (HT 2314) http://www.tacori.com/blog/three-times-a-lady/. It is currently set with a .75 CZ and I have a 3/4 carat diamond in my original engagement ring to replace it with. We always had planned someday in getting a platinum engagement ring to go with my platinum wedding band.

But, I'm having difficulty finding a jeweler to work with me on it. Is this setting truly that difficult to remount a similar sized stone in it? It's a tulip basket setting with melee work around the stone. Any suggestions on finding a jeweler to handle the work? As my acquisition was not via the traditional route of purchasing at a Tacori certified dealer, I don't have the warranty card, etc. that typically comes with a Tacori. One actually suggested that the head be replaced, and this was a Tacori dealer! I was quite aghast at that idea especially because that is such a beautiful aspect of the piece and one main reason I chose the setting.

Thanks in advance for your candid advice!

Tacori is such a delicate and finely made ring, I would not trust just anyone to work on it. I would call Tacori and see if they would work on it. They might charge you a little more for it but atleast you know it would be done right. If they won't then I will send it to the best/trusted jeweler I know to do the work. Seems like a simple job just to swap stones but bending the prongs and reshaping them is a delicate job for sure!

Thanks, Diamondbug! I was thinking about contacting Tacori directly, but wasn't sure if they would deal with a non-jewler/dealer. But, what have I got to lose?! I'll do it!
