Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at purchasing a Tacori engagement ring and need some help and advice. I have done some research and I have narrowed down some details for the ring; tacori/tiffany, platinum, solitaire or solitaire/halo, narrow band, round diamond, ring size 4, price point $15,000-$18,000 CDN for stone + ring

These are some rings that she liked:

Petite Crescent - http://www.tacori.com/ht2545rd75

Petite Crescent w/ Halo - http://www.tacori.com/ht2547rd7

Petite Crescent w/ Halo - http://www.tacori.com/ht254715rd65

Simply Tacori - http://www.tacori.com/2650rd8

What kind of centre stone can I get for my purchase point?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Thanks

You should buy the setting and diamond in the same place.

Good Old Gold carries Tacori and so does WhiteFlash. They both also have great policies and fabulous diamonds.

I would also contact WF or GOG. I am not sure whether WF is still doing custom orders of Tacori or not. Those settings have quite a wide price range. I like the Petite Crescent Halo rings, but I would go with the less expensive one. I like the last one, which is the least expensive, but it is far less ornate than the others. That would probably be my choice just because you need to put as much toward the diamond as you can.

$18k Canadian is $13,884 US. Sooo, I'd go for the $2990 ring and then you have $11k for the diamond (or less if you need to allow for tax).

Examples of nice stones (looks like you'll be able to do around 1.3 cts in H VS):

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3692933.htm (very small difference in price to get VS1)

Thanks for the advice. I might increase my purchase price to get a larger center stone. I never considered buying a diamond ring online but based on this forum it seems pretty mainstream and no complaints.

Diamondseeker, those are really nice diamonds and I'm leaning towards the VSI from Whiteflash.

I'm looking to propose this late August so I need to act fast.

Patrone, all good advice given here. I'm in Canada too and have a Tacori setting. When doing my research, we almost went with Good Old Gold, their service was amazing and they were so kind. In the end, my local Tacori dealer was having a Tacori trunk show whereby they gave USD pricing in CDN (eg MSRP 3000USD was now 3000CDN) however my centre stone was sourced elsewhere (jewels by Grace).

If you're getting the setting outside of Canada, it's easier to have the entire thing done in one place but if you can get a good deal locally, it's really simple to have them set the stone.

Good luck!
