Hi All. New to the forums, but long time lurker.

I FF is getting me the Tacori 2620 which I just adore, but was considering making a modification to and wanted to get opinions on what this would do to the look of the ring.

I love the look of the delicate halo around the center stone, but it might be just a tad too delicate for my taste. Tacori said they could bump up the diamonds in the halo from 1/2 a point to a full point.

Do you think this will bump up the sparkle of the halo without taking away from the delicate beauty of the ring??

As background, we''re looking at a RB center around or just under 2 CT.

Thanks for your help!!

Personally, I wouldn't do that. The proportions of the setting really make it the Tacori, in my opinion. Bumping them up will make the halo diamonds the same size as the diamonds on the band. If that is the look you are going for, why get a Tacori? To me then it would just be a round stone in a cushion halo setting with double prongs.

ETA...Welcome to PS!

I agree with Em. Although I do not have this setting it is on my list of the top 2 contenders. I have seen and tried on the setting numerous times and SO drawn to and in love with its dainty yet delicate details (ESPECIALLY the barely there halo).

If you desire a larger halo than I would advise searching for an less expensive alternative or having a similar setting custom made. The modified (larger stone halo) Tacori with a 2ct head in PT will most likely total over $4k. As is the setting for 2ct in PT is around $3700.

Welcome, and ditto to this!

Tacori knows what they are doing; that is why this particular ring is such a stunner! Why mess with perfection?

Now, if you desire a slightly bigger halo, then I would skip this setting. It truly is the most delicate halo I have ever seen.

Hi Ladies! thanks for the perspective, I have been really struggling with this one. I am SO drawn to this ring and given what you said am now thinking I will just keep the halo as is. Do you know what the size of the diamonds in the band are? They seemed bigger than 1 pointers in the sample I tried on, but I am new to this.

Another question I''d LOVE your help on is redarding the proportions (SM, MD and LG). I have heard the LG is for stones 1.74-2.25. I tried on the MD version and am wondering how the LG size looks in comparison. Is everything about the setting scaled up? For example, if the band gets bigger (2.0mm to 2.2-2.4), do the diamonds in the band get bigger as well, or does the metal on the band just get bigger?

Thanks again for all your help!!

jennifer- we just looked this setting about a week ago, and the tacori rep said the stone would have to be just about 2 carats to fit into the larger setting, which we picked out that day. They said anything smaller would fit into the medium setting. I hope that helps.....It helped me get a slightly larger stone than we had planned on!

btw- i think i tried on the small and large 2620 with diamonds on the band, and the medium with a plain band.....I don''t know if the diamonds in the setting are larger but it just looked SO much better to me in the large setting. Substantial, blingy, but so delicate and classy. I loved it.

Thanks, Delow. That''s what I was hoping to hear :)
