Tacori 2620 question on lighting...

As I''ve mentioned before, I''m looking to purchase a 2C RB to put in the Tacori 2620 ring I''ve linked below:

My question is, does the intricate basket that the diamond sits in obscure the diamond from receiving enough light to sparkle properly? I don''t really know how it works, but it seems as if most settings have more of the pavilion exposed to light, which might make the diamond seem brighter. Does this setting style negatively affect the diamonds appearance in this regard?

Not if it''s an ideally cut stone. A poorly cut stone however might be impeded by an intricate basket because the light doesn''t reflect properly.

Gotcha. I''m only looking at GIA excellent cuts and AGS0''s, so the stone will be well cut. I just wanted to make sure this setting style wouldn''t make the diamond appear "dimmer" than other settings.

I have this setting for an emerald cut and I haven''t had a problem. You can look up my thread. Seriously, I think the basket protects the stone from all the soap I use because I''ve noticed that it protects it from getting dirty which can also impact the stones performance. I find cleaning it pretty easy with a baby toothbrush so that won''t be a problem either.

My pleasure. Just make sure if you are looking at GIA excellents that you still run the numbers through the HCA. GIA excellent has quite a wide range of values and some aren''t so excellent!

Great. Good to know. That was another concern I had - cleaning. I figured it may be difficult to get the dirt from out of the basket. You can buy sonic cleaners for relatively cheap though and the baby toothbrush sounds like it works as well. Thanks!
