Hello everyone! :appl:

Just got my ring two weeks ago and I clean it every day. I have cleaned it with Dawn dishwashing liquid, ammonia (stinky!) windex and just bought a GemOro, which I only used twice. I have also used a toothbrush and that helps a lot. And drying it with tissue paper or blow dryer....LOL. Yes, my man says I am obsessed....and? :naughty:

I find the ammonia to really bring out the sparkle..... And I am not sure how I am liking the steam cleaner and if it is really making a big difference.....i am going to use it a few more times and then decide if I'm going to keep it or not.

Anyone have any preference or tip? It is the underside of diamond that makes me wonder if I am "reaching" it or not.....so being obsessed with "sparkle", i'm just throwing it out there. And I have read through some cleaning posts also and that is how I found all these great ideas....but maybe someone with a similar ring design could let me know what their method is. :Up_to_something:

Thanks in advance :appl:

You're doing all the right things, but you just shouldn't put any ring with pave in the GemOro or ultrasonic. That is a recipe for losing little stones! So your best bet is to never let it get dirty by cleaning 2-3 times a week and taking it off anytime you are doing anything that could get it dirty, such as cooking and other kitchen work, yard work, crafts, etc.

Thank you!! I thought the steamers were okay....
<<returning>>

I usually clean it twice a day!! LOL!!

And I take it off while doing dishes and cooking....no yard work yet here in NY!! We are still defrosting a bit. :twirl:

Thanks for answering... :appl:

And thanks for your previous post a while back with pic of the larger shank on 2620 - I am happy with the 2mm after all.

oy vey sounds like when you have your first child and you take photos of them every time they move. Then you have your second child and you take half the amount of photos and by the fourth child lol

my ering is 29 years old and I clean it after I've made meatloat et al. Certainly not twice a day lol..This to shall pass....lol

Great analogy!! And right on!!!!

It is "new" - I can't help it!!

Oh, I thought GemOro was ultrasonic, or perhaps they make both? Just ultrasonics are bad for pave as far as I know. I have not heard of restrictions on steam cleaners unless there are colored gemstones that shouldn't have the high heat.

Glad the pics were helpful! I like the 2620 best, too!!

GemOro makes both, and a unit with both US and steamer combined.... I did know about US not being recommended for pave....mine is just the steamer, the Brilliant Spa.....

okay, so I won't nix it just yet :appl: I want to use it a few times to see how I like it.

Thanks again :wavey:

Okay, good! That makes sense since they make pro quality units as well. I have only seen people here with the ultrasonics. Let us know how well the steam cleaner works!

wound up returning the GemOro......it didn't seem to be any more sparkly than regular cleaning, so back it went

That is good to know! Truly, keeping it clean often is the best way. It is when grime builds up that they are hard to clean.

But hey, I think this thread needs some pictures of your ring!

Both my settings have pave, but I've been putting them into the US to clean. I asked my jeweller, who made the ring, if it's safe to use the US (I was quite paranoid), and he said it is. According to him, any well-set pave ring should be fine in a US. And if small stones do fall out, they probably will do so anyway with daily use of the ring, because they've gotten loose and/or not set properly. With that being said, I only put it in maybe once a week, if that. I can't get to the pavilion of the diamond with my halo setting, so I find the US is helpful in getting those hard-to-reach areas clean. The toothbrush I use can't reach beneath the halo. :( But, other than the once-per-week US clean, I normally just use a baby tooth brush and generic dish soap. It seems to do the trick!

It really is crazy how fast diamonds attract grime/grease/icky-ness! A quick toothbrush clean makes it dazzling again!

P.S. I also do have a can of compressed air I use to quickly dry the ring, to avoid water spots. Those things are amazing!
