I''m evaluating radiants from HW, and wondering if I should be concerned about a stone that has a table of 68% and depth of 69.5%. I know that you can''t really judge radiants by the numbers but I just wanted to get a feel from all you experts if I should be concerned about these percentages falling outside the ideal cut range based on the cut class chart. I don''t have access to images from this type of store, so the numbers and my untrained eyes are all I have.

Should I be worried about these percentages or trust that because the stone is sold by HW, it should have an excellent cut despite these numbers? Thanks so much.

I wouldn''t be concerned too much if you love the diamond, the cut class charts are to be used as guidelines and not an absolute rule. If you have looked at various radiants and particularly like this one, then thats a good enough reason to have it on your shortlist.

+1

I am not in favor of trying to judge diamonds "by the numbers"- but even if I was, those numbers present no inherent problem.
If you loved the stone based on how it looks, that''s saying a lot.

PS_ I would not necessarily assume that just because HW - or anyone) has a stone that it would automatically be well cut in everyone''s eyes.

Again- if you loved the one you''re asking about- it''s likely a well cut stone.

The thing I guess is that I just question my own eyes to really be able to tell if this diamond is truly excellent. Given the amount of money being spent, I want to make sure it''s truly great quality. It''s not that I picked this diamond because I thought it looked the best, but it''s a top choice because it fits within other parameters given a very limited selection from this store (e.g. color, clarity, carat size, etc) and it did look good from what I could tell. When I compared this diamond to another similar one that had better table/depth % on paper, I didn''t see any difference but maybe I''m just missing something.

Is there anything specific I should be looking for when I examine the diamond again to help alleviate my worries?

What you could do is order anASET scope and inspect it for yourself, the ASET will give you a much better idea of the light return of this radiant, these scopes are simple to use and to interpret the images. Other than that, it comes down to comparing as many radiants as you can and using your own eyes.
