The answers to your questions are yes and yes. GIA EX symmetry allows minute variations, including non-pointing, misshapen facets or extra facets. Variations which might bring it to VG would be the slightly out of round outline, slight table off-center, slight culet off-center, or slight table-culet misalignment... It has to be a noticeable proportion variation to be lowered to G (there is no naked eye difference between EX and VG in symmetry).Date: 9/4/2007 2:36:19 PM

Are width dimensions part of the symmetry grading? My stone is 8.12. -8.22. Would this variance be part of the reason my stone has a GIA symmetry grading of Very Good instead of Excellent? It has great visual symmetry when I look through the Hearts & Arrows Scope.
You're welcome hearts-arrows_girl. You said it regarding photos; getting the lens of the camera and the table of the diamond precisely level is very difficult, even for the pros. They look to be nice arrows. Did you get any photos of the hearts before it was mounted?Date: 9/4/2007 8:44:30 PM

Hey John, Thanks for answering my question. Here are a couple of H&A scope photos I took myself. It seems they differ everytime I tilted my hand.
John, I do not have any arrows photos before mounting. The B/M where I got my ring from had an Ideal Scope, but no way to photograph the results.Date: 9/4/2007 9:12:55 PM
