Hi,
We bought a 1.5 Round Brillant diamond, and placed it on a temporary setting. I bought the diamond in SF at a reputable jewlery store. Here''s my question: my finance found a setting (Ritani) she likes at another national jewelry store (Bailey, Banks, and Biddle). The store said they would have to take our diamond and ship it off to Ritani to get it custom made with the stone. The diamond doesn''t have a laser inscription. Should I be worried about sending it off? The person at the jewelry shop said we could map out the inclusions and that is one way to tell if that''s our diamond. I''m not sure how comfortable I feel about this. The setting embezzles the diamond, so I''m not sure if I would be able to see the inscription anyways.
We have an engagement party in 6 weeks. If I was to get it inscribed, I wouldn''t get the diamond back in time to have it set with the Rotuni setting. What are your thoughts?
1. Send it off to get it inscribed, and then have it set after the e-party
2. Send it to Ritani and trust them and the jeweler that nothing will happen to the diamond
My finance really wants to have the setting in time for the e-party, but I''m more concerned about the diamond. Am I being paranoid that something will happen to the diamond, such as swapping out for a lesser quality one and I would have no idea.
Thoughts and recommendations please?! Thanks, appreciate it.
