Sustom Halo Setting

Custom Halo Setting, sorry about the title. I am having a really hard time typing today. But anyway, I really love the look of a halo setting, but some of the prices can be outrageous. I am thinking of having a seller on etsy custom make me a halo setting. Any opinions on this? Any etsy seller that has caught your attention with a halo setting? Favorite etsy seller?

My favorite seller on Etsy is Sally at HeartofWaterJewels. Everything is handmade, not cast, and their work is beautiful. They can pretty much make anything!

I like Sally, and Julia Kay Taylor (who is in the US) who I am working with currently. But neither of them have pave work posted, nor have I seen thier pave. I would NOT get pave from anyone that did not have SIGNIFICANT pave experience. Sally is also overseas which would make repairs a headache.

I have also looked through the work on etsy jewelers extensively and can tell you honestly, that ANY of them that can do decent pave will have ''outrageous'' prices. Pave takes MUCH skill, and time, and effort to do well. I would NOT skimp on that. Frankly, you would be better showing us what you want and seeing if we can find you a reasonably priced setting that is similar by a trusted designer. Or a previously owned setting.

With pave, you get what you pay for. If this is a ring for everyday wear, do NOT skimp. I have a pave halo by a chinese seller Lan.bo4 and it is very pretty and the pave is decent, but it is NOT an everyday wear ring.

And I have my engagement ring, by Ocean Pearlman (who is VERY skilled at pave) and my wedding band by Scott Kay, both of which are worn frequently and the pave is COMPLETELY different and the quality is not comparable.

If you are open to shape and size... I really do recommend trying to find a pre-owned setting. Pearlmans has a section for these. I know someone here was asking about where to consign their Ritani Halo (though I have no idea who). I bought a pre-owned band from Pearlmans and they are great. I have also bought new from them.

Their website is www.pearlmansjewelers.com and while you are there take a look at the Beverly K halo settings. They are reasonably priced on average and though I don''t personally own something from them, yet, I would not hesitate to buy from them.

In addition to pearlmans, I would look at Adwar and Unique settings of New York. They do not sell to the public, but mass produce and cast designs that they sell to jewelers who then polish and finish them, including adding melee stones. They both have many settings with halos, (thought I prefer Adwars halo designs, personally) and any of the vendors that are recommended on PS can get their settings in for you, and do the finishing and setting. And frequently this is a much lower cost way to get a halo setting.
