I purchased a Simon G double halo setting (mr2459) and I am looking at purchasing a center 1 carat stone. My budget is around $8,000. I found a Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows diamond around my price range for an H color VS2. However, I am wondering if I need a higher color diamond for the halo setting. Do you think I should go for an ideal diamond instead which would allow me to bump the color up one or two grades but lose the super ideal proportions?

Thanks

Thanks

here's my old stone in my old Simon G halo. It was a Brian Gavin Blue I vs2- it had medium fluor and faced up whiter than an H stone I had in it previously (at least I thought so)....fantastic stone....

Stick with what you have...a BGD H should be plenty white.

Thanks so much for the reply. I'm not too concerned about the stone facing up white but more concerned about the side view. The center stone will stick up a little over the halo. Will the tint in an H be noticeable from the side-view or is the BGD signature worth a drop in a couple grades for the sparkle? The highest color I would be able to bump up to would probably be F.

First up, nice setting!

Agree with tyty here. My wife now has a BGD Blue K colour stone and it faces up plenty white compared to other stones she has which are nominally higher in colour. From the side, you should be fine as well (assuming that you are not super sensitive to colour). You're (more than) safe with a BGD Signature H&A H colour stone.
