It's been such a long, grey winter where I live, that picking up these puppies from my jeweller today brightened things up!
The garnet is the one I posted in the YELLOW thread, set in 18k yellow gold, with platinum prongs and .50 ctw side diamonds. I had debated putting a red spinel in this setting (apologies to the red voters!), but this combo really did it for me. Plus, I have a few reds set, and no yellows, and needed some "sunshine"!
The spinel is a crazy sparkly stone cut by David Dawson. It was a fun stone to buy, because it was the first one that was custom cut for me, with progress reports from beginning to end, and it took a while (since David has a different day job and a family that keeps him busy), so there was a fair amount of buildup. Worth it, to me. I love it. The setting is a modified ebay find.
