I''ve taken it outside and it can static in and out, but I usually find a spot where it works. Not bad considering she''s on the other side of the house.Date: 4/28/2010 12:05:42 AM

TGal,
Thanks so much for the head''s up. I''ve been eyeing this monitor for our bebe due in August.
Question for you an any others who have it: what is your experience with range with this monitor? The description says ''ranges up to 350 feet (clear line of sight) and 100 feet (obstructed)''. Would you say that has been your experience?
We have a large yard and, I would like to be able to carry the monitor around while outside doing gardening, etc. Just wondering if that is really feasible with this monitor or not.
Ideally I would just like to buy one monitor ... and I like the idea of having a video monitor for the future when he becomes mobile.
Thanks in advance!
This monitor is excellent because it does pick up pretty well everything. You can also hear a slight noise (hum, static, I''m not sure what it is) when it is on. You don''t really notice it when you are awake and going about your business, but at night in bed, I would imagine it would be magnified. TGuy needs silience to sleep...he even hates the sound of a clock ticking.Date: 4/28/2010 6:53:16 AM

TravelingGal...can you explain what voice activation has to do with anything? I guess I am wondering if we need a second monitor as well.
That''s what we have too. I love the Sony monitor.Date: 4/28/2010 12:55:46 PM

We also have this monitor and, for the most part, have been very pleased with it. But there have been two instances when the monitor ‘freezes’ on the image of DS, giving the appearance that he is still sleeping soundly, but he is, in fact, awake and moving around in his crib. As a result, we use the Sony audio monitor simultaneously with the Summer Infant video monitor.

yea my husband likes to sleep with the sound on TV. I am fine with it being on as long as I am asleep but I find it hard to fall asleep if the TV is on. I doubt that the noise would bother me however. Which sony monitors do you ladies have?
Yup, that''s the one. I love it.Date: 4/28/2010 3:50:31 PM

Not at all. If the background low noise of the video monitor doesn''t bother you, then use that as the main monitor. We had the audio monitor FIRST, so we just continued to use that in our bedroom.Date: 4/28/2010 5:15:46 PM

We also had an audio one first. I thought my friends were extravagant when they registered for their video monitors. Both friends who have them only use them. You can also get an extra camera if you have two kids and switch it from A to B which is pretty cool. I first got the Angel Care monitor b/c SIDS really scared me. It is a great monitor b/c it doesn''t pick up static (at least not mine). So it is very easy to use. The video was when I realized my child was manipulating me to coming into her roomIf I could only afford one monitor it would be a video one hands down.![]()
