Hello helpful travelling PSers!
DH and I are approaching our 2nd wedding anniversary and 5th dating anniversary at the end of June and planning to celebrate with a trip to France! We are planning on spending a week in Paris (June 23-30), staying in a vacation rental in Montmartre. DH suggested that if we're going, we may as well be there for at least 10 days, and he mentioned heading to the Mediterranean Coast. My initial thought was Marseille, as it's a European Capital of Culture this year and hosting a lot of cultural exhibitions and whatnot, and Le Tour is also going through on July 3rd, which would most likely be our final full day in France before flying home on the 4th (may possibly extend to the 5th). But now I'm wondering if we should rethink that and spend a proper 3 days on the Riviera? Most likely in Nice?
A little background: I am the traveller. My husband goes with me because he likes being with *me* and seeing how happy it makes me, not necessarily because he enjoys it. But Paris/France are actually on HIS list, so I want him to enjoy himself as much as possible. He is a bit crowd-averse (hence staying slightly away from the heart of Paris while there) so my worry with the Riviera proper is that there will be too many people and he won't be able to relax and enjoy.
Any thoughts or suggestions on where to go on the coast and what to do/see while we're there would be helpful, though after a packed week in Paris, I think we might be taking these three days as a "vacation from our vacation"...
