Hi guys, and gals

Please take a look at this and let me know if this rock is OK. It has feather and indent on the outer edge, should I be concern about?

I missed out on some of the 0.9 E VS1 a few weeks ago when the price was quite low.
This one was $4300 just 3 weeks ago.

these aren't well cut stones... :knockout: ..clarity,color and weight means nothing if the stone is poorly cut... ;))

Ditto DF... Both these stones have a GIA cut grade of Good. Stay away from such stones. The poor cut will not allow the diamond to sparkle and perform well and in many cases it will even make it look smaller than it is. If you put such a diamond next to an H, VS2 or SI1 stone that has excellent cut, it will outsparkle it and even if they have the same weight, most probably it will look bigger than the Good cut stone. Definitely go down on clarity and even on color, or size but DON'T get a poorly cut stone, i'm sure that you will regret it.

Cut is key when looking at rounds. Poorly cut stones will appear smaller and won't shine nearly as nice as a well cut stone.

Here are some suggestions for you. All of these stones will appear larger than your current selections. If you are interested in any of them I would place them on hold.

This stone faces up about like a well cut .8 ct stone so you would be paying for extra weight that is not visible. A well cut .9 ct stone ought to measure around 6.2mm give or take a little so the depth is giving it weight but the diameter of the stone is not proportionate to what a well cut one of the same size would be.

Any of the one Farmer Gal posted is going to physically measure the same size or better even though they weigh a little less.

It's also possible to find some well cut ones that don't carry the H/A branding and so will cost a bit less if budget is a concern, but that takes more time. If that's something you want to do, try posting a new topic asking for help looking for a round brilliant. Give your budget and what specs you are looking for (size range, color range, clarity range). Keep in mind, as people have said, that cut is the most important aspect. If people have told you it's color or clarity that makes a diamond sparkle so you need F VVS, then that is not true. A well cut (well proportioned stone) is what makes a diamond sparkle and you can relax a few of the other qualities (color, clarity) within your personal tolerance.
