Suggest your hair product!

I was born with thick, straight, shiny hair. It''s been my shield and always got lots of compliments on it--how healthy it looks etc. I took it for granted, never had to worry about products or heavy maintenance.

Well something has changed..I don''t know if it''s childbirth, age, or coloring (d*mn grays!), but now it''s all frazzled looking. Little wiry hairs sticking up and just generally dry and frazzled. I wonder if I should just cut it off (maybe I can''t pull off long hair anymore), but then thought maybe some of you ladies had some hair product to recommend? I use Pantene currently which has always been great, but doesn''t seem to be enough anymore..

I cant really recommend anything in particular because I use a bunch of cheapo stuff but...when my gray hair started
coming in (I have/had really straight hair) it seem to have lots more texture then my regular hair so it adds a bit
of fuzz/wild hair factor. Also, since the coloring I think it has dried out whatever non-gray hair I had so in general
my hair just doesnt seem to be as in good of condition as it was when I was younger.

I can tell you I dont like pantene on my hair. The shampoo seems to work ok but not the conditioners.

Actually here are a couple of products you might consider...

For shine - Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine (Anti-frizz serum) - really makes my hair shiny

For wild hairs - Redken align 12 - medium control ultra-straight balm - got this for my daughter but
works pretty good for me too. Helps to smooth some of those fly away hairs.

I had great hair when I was younger, but things do change as the grey hairs start coming in. My hair is much dryer and the texture is more wirey. I thought I would never color my hair, but I didn''t realize that it would look so awful as I aged. So, I have it colored every few weeks. The products I use at home are Matrix Biolage Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioning Balm. Works for me.

I found the new hair dryers with ionic whatever helps keep the frizzys down. And I put my hair in a round brush and gently put a little tension on the hair as I dry it (hint from my hairdresser who blow drys peoples hair completely frizzy before she does this with a brush and it works for her, I have to do it when it is a little wet )
Yes it is a shame how hair changes--but I consider everyone lucky if they aren''t LOSING hair like me

Avoid shampoos and conditioners with sulfates and parabens in the ingredients. They really damage and dry out your hair.

My hairdresser says hormones and age do this to hair. I have dark shiny straight hair and when I turned 30 I got fly aways, I get haircuts often but my hairdresser says age really changes your hair and I believe it. I noticed when she uses the hair flattening iron it helped. I use Biologe like flygirl too

Try Fekkai Glossing Cream. You can use it on damp or dry hair, and the olive oil in it makes hair perfectly soft and glossy.

The Fekkai Glossing Shampoo & Conditioner are also excellent. It''s an expensive line, though, so if you''re only going to try one product, I would definitely try the Glossing Cream. It lasts a long time.

If you want a bargain shampoo & conditioner, I like John Frieda Lustrous Touch (they make it for blondes or brunettes). I like it much better than Pantene, but makes hair very soft and shiny.

Even though you can get a cheaper shampoo & conditioner (like the John Frieda), I have never found a less expensive substitute for the Fekkai Glossing Cream that works nearly as well - it''s in a class by itself.

I have naturally thick, wavy, and fairly coarse hair, but people tell me they''d never know once it is all straightened. Guess I must be doing something right?? Ha!

My new favorite products are from the Aveda Smooth Infusion line. It has a shampoo, conditioner, and two different styling products. I like the Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother, and they have a new product in the line called the Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener. I tried a sample of the new one and liked it also, but am going to wait until I use up the rest of the Style-Prep Smoother first. They both leave your hair very smooth and shiny, without feeling like you have a bunch of product weighing down your hair.

I still need a quick run through with the CHI straightener, but if your hair is straighter, you can probably skip that step!

I have very fine, straight hair and I use John Masters Organics "Sweet Orange and Silk Protein Styling Gel." My salon gave me a bunch of free samples a few hair cuts ago and I've been hooked ever since! I don't use (or even own) a blow dryer so I need products that don't require blow drying and this one works great. It just makes my hair very sleek and gives it a little more body.

Make that two votes for Kerastase. It is bar none the best line out there. I use Bain Volumactive Shampoo, Substance Constructive and Volume Expansion. I can personally give a testimonal for the above products. Also, their in-salon treatments are AMAZING. I have done the Pixelist and the Double Reconstruction.

Their products are expensive but they really do work, worth a try.

Another vote for Kerastase, they have amazing products. I also use Bed Head Control Freak shampoo and conditioner. I should mention I have tons of thick, wavy hair and those products work for me.

another vote for kerastase. i really like their masquintense hair mask, i use it about once or twice a week and have definitely noticed a difference in my dried, damaged hair. it took a few weeks of regular use for the mask to do its job but now i wouldnt be without it!

I swear by Abba Pure Gentle leave-in conditioner.
