Although they are referred to as “flaws” I’ve developed a real love for heavily included stones - especially cabochons. Sometimes the type of inclusion actually makes the stone glow or sparkle in a way it never would if it was clean.

Does anyone else have a sneaking soft spot for the lovely “garden” in their emeralds or liquid inclusions in their topazes?

I’ve posted a few examples and also my latest find (emerald cab) which was so inexpensive but I just cannot stop looking at because of the swirls inside.

I gotta admit I never really thought about it until I bought my first emerald ring recently. I always quested for the most perfect diamond, sapphire etc.
Now that I own a no oil Colombian emerald I am absolutely smitten and charmed by her jardin.
I love it as long as the stone is bright and transparent and the color vivid. Then it reminds me of those magical Easter eggs we used have as kids with an entire scene created out of sugar inside!
I also like it because it gives the stone personality. I know exactly where each rutile and swirl is.

I bought an amazing Aquamarine ring (which I’ve never worn because it’s too small and the band doesn’t lend itself to resizing) with intriguing inclusions which “make” the ring.26F03D55-2354-4B74-9875-A6964547DF26.jpeg

I like the stones on the second photo, what are they?

It’s gorgeous!

Could you make that into a pendent ?
Its way too pretty not to be worn

Agree! I have a tsav that glows due to inclusions, and have seen other tsavs like that too.

I also got my first sleepy ruby as it glowed... over the rubies I saw that sparkled.

That said, I still have reservations over inclusions in general. But personally I think some stones are definitely charming that way

It’s imperial topaz. The stones were so inexpensive but I just love them.

That is lovely - exactly the sort of thing I meant. It just wouldn’t be the same without that inclusion pattern.

I love that ballerina setting it’s sooooooo beautiful. I don’t have one but it’s on the list!

Loooove. It's super cool seeing the hidden 'inner geometry' of gemstones :)

I want to show you the coolest inclusion I've seen! This is in one of my Paraiba Tourmalines. Don't you think it looks like a steel structure?

Paraiba Inclusion.jpg

It looks like a castle wall to me! The kind where they defended forts!

I don't have any single stone that I love or bought because of its inclusions. But I have many imperfect stones that I love and bought because I think they are beautiful and precious, IMHO :D. I have decided I can live with and tolerate all of their flaws. I believe they are as beautiful as any G-d's creations :love:  around us and including us :D. I will add more stones later, for now I am attaching the pictures of my tiny 0.46ct Russian Alexandrite. It was hard for me to catch its real color under the day light with my camera, but the stone fell on a carpet near our back yard door and showed the best color! Actually, I thought I would never ever find it, but when I started to look for this little baby, I spotted it right away. Because of the color!

I think I have learnt a lot from this post. I was a person who seeks perfection in stones. However unless I have ££££££ to spare, the perfect gemstone is hard to get and the best and cheaper option would be lab created stones. But not my preference.

Yesterday after some long thinking, I decided to keep a morganite ring I bought online after realising it was not perfect, it had a window and there were inclusions. The ring may not be a stunner to others, but I do like how it looks as it has a sweet design and can be worn daily 20201017_085345_mh1602922041134.jpg

I haven't bought solely because of inclusions, but have many in my collection that I would never trade. I call them their beauty marks!

Oh yes!!!

Well formed Pyrite crystals in emerald are a favourite!

Eye visible color needles in sapphire and ruby! Oh my!

Phantoms in aquamarine are beautiful too.

Here is another brilliant example - this bubblegum tourmaline has a bunch of crystalline inclusions. In the shade / low light it’s an OK stone with a good colour. But in the sun it literally lights up with sparkles because of those inclusions. Glowing. The flaws themselves are the differentiator. @Ionysis that is an amazing stone! The color is great but I agree, those "imperfections" add to the stone.

Yes...funny I didn't see this thread until I bought this aquamarine. I liked it because of it's water like ripples. I love my emeralds for the same imperfections - they glow because of them.

Here's another flawed but also glowy stone to add. Molly is my pink sapphire...still waiting for her to get set into get new home but here are some before picsIMG_20200807_175835.jpgIMG_20200805_175155.jpgIMG_20200807_175933.jpg

I've kicked it around and think I am going to ask Dan to set my aqua into one of his "go to" silver/gold ring settings. It's pretty low key and organic, but the stone is organic too. I think it would compliment the stone and I could wear it on the daily without looking too overdone. I have another part of me that wants to halo in diamonds....but my pocketbook is arguing the point :)

Did you post photos of the aqua? I’ve been dying to see it.

oops, I meant to post this in the Mastercut thread. I don't have it yet, but I'll post it. I'm so excited - this is my first vendor colored stone purchase. I have a few stones from LT.
