I decided to go with a Stuller Solstice engagment setting. Has anyone ever bought a Stuller brand setting from James Allen? The sales associate told me they do not deal with Stuller and proceeded to try to sell me their verison of the setting which is alot more expensive. I find it surprising because nearly every forum topic discussing Stuller on pricescope says "Stuller does business with nearly every jeweler." I have read James Allen carrying the Vatche setting, which isn't listed on their website so I would think they would carry Stuller.

Local jeweler ordered my stuller setting and set my stone for me.

James Allen no longer sets into Vatche. I asked yesterday (citing Jim "James Allen" Schultz's PS post from about a year ago), they then inquired, and told me today that they do not do Vatche.

My understanding is that they will only set into their own offerings now, which are all listed on their site.

I also had a stone from JA that I had set by a local jeweler in a setting bought through them. A lot of brick/mortar jewelers carry Stuller. You might check and see if there's a local independent jeweler in your area (not a chain store) and ask if they can order what you want to set a stone you already have. (I can't see any reason to tell them you are buying a stone elsewhere.)

Totally agree with bastetcat. I would not mention where you purchased the stone, just that its a diamond that you acquired some time ago and would now like to set. They will be less likely to attempt to persuade you to purchase a stone from them if you mention it was a gift or heirloom or has some special sentiment.
