Studs with $3500 budget

Hello pricescope friends -
I am looking to purchase a pair of studs, and hoping you can give some advice on how to maximize my $3500 budget

+ My priorities are cut and size - I'm very willing to be more flexible on color (to I or J) and clarity (SI will work well)
+ What size do you think I can reach with these parameters?
+ These are my only studs, so having upgrade eligible stones is probably important
+ Why would you prefer 4 prong or 3 prong martini settings?

Given these priorities, how would you proceed?

I had a slightly smaller budget than you. I went with IDJ and ended up with 1.2 ct G/SI2 studs (eye clean). They are well cut but likely not super ideal, which doesn't bother me. IDJ has a good upgrade policy. I love my studs and get regular compliments on them.

Hi There,

Here are 4 stones from Blue Nile that will be available shortly. If you are interested in any of them, call customer service & ask for Laurie. Clarity is a bit overkill for studs but they're cheaper than some others that are lower clarity so why not buy the better clarity grades?! You'll have to cut & paste because the direct links don't work for Blue Nile (yes..is a total pain). Laurie can send you a pic of the VS-2. The crystal is off the table & is at the edge of the crown, which is a good spot for it. I was told it was eye clean.

Not really loving those options. Both have leakage. Did you tell him you were looking for Pricescope-quality stones?

I don't like the 2 from ID either. Although I didn't have any images for the Blue Nile stones, I did run them through the HCA & they had great scores. Based on that, I would give them a chance. I had painstainingly gone through quite a few to get to those 4, which I think are well balanced between the numbers, clarity & colour. Nope, I'm not a vendor. Just an enthusiast.

Can you help me identify in the photos *where* the leakage is? I'd like to get better at reading the photos.

Also, can someone contextualize the feedback? Aka it's clear that these are not superideal stones.. but how "off" are they? Is this a good balance of value vs. performance, or do I certainly throw them back given they're poor performers?

What suggestions do you have for me in communicating with IDJ about what I want, given my last round resulted in these.

All but 1 of the Blue Nile stones suggested are no longer available.

Yes - work with Yekutiel and tell him that the feedback you got on the images was not favorable, and you want to explore more options.
