Stud diamond earrings- how closely do they need to match?

Hi all,

What are the limits for diameter variance for a pair of stud earrings? The two diamonds I''m considering are

4.85-4.86 &
4.89-4.91

Are they too different in diameter to be considered a matching set? The setting will be a 3 prong martini.

Hi,

Can you hold out and find stones that are closer, since the second stone is has a bigger diameter? Mine are: 4.77-4.79X2.93 and 4.76-4.79X2.93 (WF ACAs) and they look perfectly matched and that truely shows when in my ears. (I'm probably a bit picky, though. . .)

Hi MC, yes, I guess I can be patient and wait for that perfect matched set. It''s just that when I have an idea of something I want, I want it RIGHT NOW

I also wonder if I wait too long, if there will be even less diamonds to choose from, and higher prices at that!

Yeah, that really sucks about the price increase, but hopefully you''re not paying too much more and can find some great stones soon.

Which vendor are the stones you posted about from? Maybe contact them about how closely the stones look when viewed face up.
