I just received my diamond ring from B2C picked with help from the nice people of this site. I like the ring except it photographs extremely dark / purple/ blue under a camera flash. I think this is from the strong flourescence? I thought the strong flourescense only showed under UV light? Is a camera flash UV light?

Do you think I should return for a diamond with none to faint?

It is a 1.50, J, excellent cut and a really good HCA score. Cost $6800

I can go up to $7500 and they have a few with none to faint florescense but I don't know how to calc the HCA and look at the scope images like fellow members helped picking this one

Here are pics with and without flash:

No idea whether a camera flash brings out the fluorescence in a diamond, but I surely wouldn't let photographs affect your opinion of the diamond. The only thing that matters is how it looks to human eyes. If you love it in person, don't over think it and let phographs turn you off of a diamond your eyes love to look at.

Yes that makes sense. I think I need to look at it more in direct sunlight to see if it shows to the naked eye.

I did find 3 others that meet my criteria with HCA score 2 or less and no Fluorescense. I'm awaiting Ideal Scope Asset Image for them.

Not sure what to look for but maybe if I post here you guys can tell me if they look good and worth upgrading.

That darkness to me, in these particular pictures, looks similar to what happens to well cut round diamonds in bright direct sunlight or just bright direct light. Frankly, the diamond goes dark, but you get a lot of fire (colored flashes). That's probably what's happening to your diamond, and it's not a function of the flouro.

For example, take a look at some of the videos on Good Old Gold's youtube channel - Jon cycles through several types of lighting for his videos. See what happens to the diamonds under bright, direct overhead spotlight - I think you'll see a similar effect. It's perfectly normal.

For example, take a look at this video of two H&A's at around the 1:30 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9FtRj_IG9Y
