What's the weirdest you have tried??

We have a local store that makes really unique flavors. I stopped in today and tried chocolate cayenne. I ordered 3 small scoops: sweet corn and wildberry, goat cheese and roasted red cherries, and cherry lambic beer. They were all so good! The flavors were there, but not overwhelming. I loved the goat cheese. It wasn't like you were biting into a big thing of cheese. It was super light and creamy!

My FF had wasabi ice cream (twice actually). I hate wasabi so I didn't try it. I love sea salt gelato (especially with a scoop of dark chocolate gelato next to it). A local gelateria makes it. Delish!

I can't remember the name, but I had gelato that tasted like perfume...I wasn't a big fan...

I would try durian ice cream if I had the chance.
I have some natto in the freezer right now
But no.........
My Grandad (RIP) used to put pepper on vanilla ice cream

Violet flower ice cream. Yummmm...

I went to a Steven Starr restaurant last year....

The ice cream was banana/peanut butter with BACON in it. It was for Elvis' birthday and it was actually REALLY delicious. I went back recently and the waiter told me that they actually make an ice cream dessert with scraple in it now too.

OH! and I've tried a ferrero rocher (spelling?) gelato that had chunks of the candy in it...absolutely amazing even though its probably not a weird flavor..

OMG... Are you referring to Jeni's?! Yummmmo. I love, love, LOVE chocolate cayenne. I need to see if I can have some of that goodness shipped out west :lickout:

There's a place called Sundaes n Cones in the East Village that I loved, and one of their flavors was corn. It wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad either!

The best one, though, was black sesame. Yum!

That sounds really good!

I haven't tried any weird flavors. The ice cream places around here must not be adventurous enough.

There is a place in New Hope, PA called Gerenser's Exotic Ice Cream that I used to stop at for an ice cream cone.

Rose Petal ice cream. yuk! Green tea ice cream was yummy, but my fav was the amaretto almond. Also had an african violet flavor that I never tried, especially after sampling the rose petal.

saffron pistachio :knockout: ... this girl bugged me about trying it for WEEKS and i finally went and got it with her and i REALLY hated it!

Walleye-flavored ice cream at a place near Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Yuck. (To be fair, I didn't try it--my brother did and reported back.)

I've had chai tea, green tea, "black and tan," Guiness, salted caramel, and Jack Daniels ice cream. The other day DH had some Tabasco-flavored ice cream--it was not so great, in my opinion. I've decided I definitely prefer the good old-fashioned flavors.

Marlboro ( the cigarette) is the weirdest one I've seen... they emptied a box of cig leaves from a RED box in cream and steeped it for however long then used the infused cream to make the ice cream. I've not had this - saw it on tv

also heard bacon is good... and maple bacon, but I'm not so sure about that...

oh and I've had durian gelato and it was nastay.

Pils: yup! It was from jenis...love it! And she does ship, so I bet u can order some.
kitty: any sort of fish flavored ice cream just sounds gross.
oranges: we have another store around here that has saffron ice cream. I haven't tried it...not sure I want to.
Luckyshe and soocool: I've had rose candy before...not a fan of the perfume flavored things. I believe there is a lavendar flavored ice cream at our local place, but I haven't tasted it.
Rhubarb: id imagine sea salt and choco ice cream would be delish.. I love salty and sweet! Not sure how id feel about wasabi ic...
Missmina: I don't know what durian is...nor natto. Care to elaborate??? (Ill google both...haha...) and it sounds like ur grandpa was ahead of the times considering all the flavors out now!
Nashville: was it perfumy???
Autumn: that sounds really really good actually. Id try it!
BEG: I think I liked this sweet corn flavor bc it had blackberry jam in with it. It was a subtle but could pick out the corn flavor. I can't imagine what black sesame would taste like??
Zoe: its usually just little local shops that make these crazy flavors. I bet if you looked into it, you'd find a place locally with wacko flavors.
Cehra: tobacco flavored ice cream has to be the nastiest flavor hands down. I cannot imagine someon things that was a good idea. You could not pay me enough to even try it.

I was talking with a friend about 'beer floats' and we decided we are going to try guiness beer with coffee ice cream.

I had sea salt ice cream in Ireland. It was delish.

OMG.

My mum got my dad an ice cream maker a couple of years ago. He went absolutely nuts with it - you wouldn't believe the stuff he'd toss in there! Pickle & banana, celery, horseradish, he used grated parmesan once.. I don't think any of his bizarre concoctions were ever edible, and I think my mum learnt a valuable lesson
:knockout:  ;(

yssie that's hilarious! maybe i should get my brother an ice cream machine--- he is notorious for eating very interesting combos-- could be very entertaining. :Up_to_something: :Up_to_something:

Last year I tried some Lobster ice cream--probably not as bad as the Walleye ice cream that Kittybean had, but I think it's safe to say that seafood-flavored ice creams will not hit the main stream.

Jeni's is soooo goooooood...whenever I see my friends in C-bus I wheedle a trip to Jeni's out of them. The goat cheese with cherries is my absolute favorite. I didn't know we could order it to be shipped out! I'm totally going to do that, it's worth it even with the shipping charges!

For those in the Bay Area, try Ici's or Bi-Rite for more "adult" flavors. Roasted banana, honey lavender, caramel cashew, toasted sesame crunch...and Ici uses hand rolled cones with chocolate filled tips :lickout:

I have tasted Durian. If you don't like the fruit, you won't like the ice cream. DH loves durian tapioca shakes, though. His burps are so disgusting they have offended everybody riding in the car.

Sea salt and cayenne chocolate sound delicious!

When visiting Hokkaido in Japan, I tried all sorts of weird ice cream flavors: crab, sea urchin, (black) squid, honey (that one was good), matcha tea, ...

Durian flavor ice cream can be found everywhere in Singapore. Yap, if you do not like the fruit, you will not like the ice cream.

It stinks also - not a fan but it is worth trying. My father in law loves it.
I prefer black seasame, taro or green tea ice cream out of the Asian flavours.

I'll have to go there...I'm ten minutes from new hope!

Love, love, love me some Jeni's. :lickout: :lickout: :lickout:

I've had some maple bacon ice cream. It was pretty freaking delicious.

Garlic Ice cream from the garlic festival in Gilroy, CA - YUCK!!!!!!

AutumnNovember- That sounds amazing!!

Ben and Jerry's had a promotional "beer and donuts" flavor when the Simpsons celebrated its 10 (or whatever year) anniversary. It wasn't bad. I also had olive oil gelato but other than that, nothing too crazy.

Zanoni's Chocolate Ginger in Vienna :knockout: Maroni [chesnut] on the other hand, was amazing!
