Any recommendations on some reputable, no pressure, educational jewelers in NYC? Wife and I are looking to upgrade her engagement ring in the next year or so and would like to find a good physical location to go in, have her try on a few different styles, sizes, clarity, etc to determine exactly what will look perfect on her hand. Does anyone have any recommendations for a location that will provide this service (of course I will remember them when it''s time to buy). :)

Thanks!

My then-boyfriend and I spent some time looking around at Michael C Fina on 5th Ave & liked them a lot. He checked out a lot of other jewelers before actually buying my engagement ring but ended up going with them in the end! They were extremely nice to us when we went on our first just-looking trip and let me try on as many rings as I wanted, and gave us lots of information about them. We just told them up front that we weren''t planning to buy today but just wanted to see different rings on my hand and they were very nice and accomodating. I went a few other places with my fiance too, but I didn''t really like anyone else as much as them at the time. Plus they have a great selection! Hope that helps!

I highly recommend Michael Jay Fifth Avenue, he was wonderful! You can make an appointment with him as he prefers to see his clients personally and also has an online service. No pressure, no hassle, just a great guy who's customer's happiness is very important to him

If in the very unlikely even he doesn't have what you want, he can find it for you, plus his prices are excellent and the craftmanship of his jeweller is top notch.

Firenze Jewelers on 47th Street (www.firenzejewels.com) has a gorgeous selection - if you stop-in, ask for Myles or Gabrielle ... I''ve found both to be extremely helpful, PLUS, Myles told me that they are expecting a whole new inventory of the latest engagement rings and mountings from Natalie K AND Simon G - YUMMY!

ALSO, David So Jewelers has a store-front on 47th Street and a VIP showroom at 580 Fifth Avenue right around the corner - David designed the Solasfera cut diamond which you can learn more about at: www.solasfera.com. He has beautiful stuff in the showroom, and it''s not as expensive as one might think.

FINALLY, Good Old Gold (www.goodoldgold.com) also carries the Solasfera diamond and lots of other beautiful diamonds and settings. The entire staff is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendlly - not at all pushy. They''re on Long Island which is not too far from NYC if you''re making a day of it.

All of the foregoing recommendations are based on my A+++ experience in researching and completing a recent purchase (which coincidentally was also an anniversary present). Good luck, and let us know about your experiences and also, what you decide!
