I plan on setting 1.5ct round diamond on the setting with little diamonds 3/4 of the way around the band. I am not sure how big the side diamond should be. What are your opinions about it? Thanks in advance!
Thank you guys so much for your responses. It was helpful. At first I liked the 7 to 9 pointer side stones with my 1.5 round diamond, however when i just asked a few questions at tiffanys, he suggested that wherever I buy it, that he doesnt suggest i go over 3 pointers or at the most 5 pointers because it would take away from the center stone. another issue was that with the wedding band it may look a little bulky. (I do want a wedding band to be shared prong with bigger diamonds than my engagment band). sooItook the guy's advice and now im looking at 3 pointers, but wanted to see what you guys thought of that and of maybe 5 pointers. I judst want the ring to be balanced with the side stones, and jewerlers often are not very helpful.. atleast the ones I have come across so far. thanks again!
Sounds like your guy is giving you the right advice, in this instance. Let your large centre stone be the focus and the melee on the sides just provide a shimmer of bright white scintillation! Too much, and its competing with the main attraction. As you know, it's all about proportion. I'm in agreement - 3 pointers may be your better bet, especially if you also want a blingier wedding band.
