The stone in the setting looks a little crooked. This is naturally more obvious in a photo than it is to the eye. Is this something worth having redone or making a complaint about?

I'm a pretty visually oriented person, so I notice this kind of stuff. The lovely lady who will be wearing it is much less, thus I'm not too concerned from her perspective.

I'm having nothing but trouble posting an image, I can't get the image or a link to it on Photobucket to work. I can't even paste a text version of the link here....?

Thanks,
b

Hi Spoogenet,

To prevent broken links and protect privacy we do not allow outside photo hosting to websites such as photobucket or flickr.

In order to post pictures you must upload them directly to the forum.

Directions can be obtained here from the FAQ forum:

We are experiencing some technical difficulties this morning so if you continue to have trouble just wait a bit and try again.

Thank you for understanding.

I''d get it fixed, unless maybe it''s a princess cut. (Those wee pointy corners- I wouldn''t want to risk them again in setting over a smallish issue). A good bench should be able to set a symmetrical stone straight, and whomever set it in the first place I would think should redo it for free. At least if they''re good with customer service anyway.

You can''t link to photos. Just upload them one at a time to PS off your harddrive, use that little mountain-and-sun design button fourth from the right. one photo per post. They have to have a totally unique name: "ring1" or something isn''t gonna work, it''s been used long ago I''m sure.

Thanks, I''ll try back later to post a picture.

In looking at the stone itself even more...the stone isn''t exactly straight either. It''s 1:1 from the center of each side, but it is a slightly lopsided square.

Woohoo, the picture posted.

I agree it''s a little off. send the picture to your vendor and see what they say.

You spent the money and took the time to find the perfect ring and if you feel it''s just a little bit off, it makes sense to have it redone. It''s a gorgeous ring and you''ll be looking at it for a LONG time, so you want to enjoy it 100%. Nothing wrong with that.

First of all beautiful ring and stone!!! But yes, I do see it as well. If it bothers you, get it fixed. My ring is slightly off, but it if vintage and i expect non-perfection out of vintage. Kind of adds to old charm. On newly made rings though, if I see as much as a prong off I get it fixed.

Thanks for the comments. I was so nervous before the ring was delivered, I thought the stone was way too small. I just love it now that I''ve seen it in person, it''s just what I had hoped to get back.

The more I look at the stone pictures on GOG, the more I see the asymmetry of the square and how that maps to the setting. I probably sound like I''m trying to convince myself it''s just fine, and that''s maybe what I''m doing. My point being with the asymmetry of the stone, I''m not sure it could be much better in the setting. The center line of the stone matches very nicely with the band.

I''m just so excited about it that I want to give it to her.
