Stone & setting in the same place?

Hi Everyone. I'm in the early stages of e-ring shopping and I have a fundamental question to ask the experienced people on PS:

If I have an idea of whom I want to work with on the setting, (my gf is pretty particular about wanting to work with a great ring designer who are known for pave, hand engraving, etc.) does it make economic sense to source the stone through that jeweler as well?

Would they be able to give me a package price that would allow me to do better than buying the rock separately (online)? Do jewelers appreciate the added business? Or is my best move to work individually with a diamond dealer and a separate jeweler?

I suggest you feel this jewelry maker out and see how he or she reacts. Some offer a discount on the entire package. Ask some questions and make your decision based upon the responses.
