Long time lurker, first time poster..
First of all, thanks to the community for being so informative - took me from having no idea about diamonds to looking at aset images on each individual diamond !!

I have a few question which I would love your expert opinions on.
I'm in the process of talking to whiteflash and BGD and getting quotes on a custom ring inspired from the HOF beloved ring: http://www.heartsonfire.com/shop-jewelry/rings/engagement-rings/beloved-open-gallery-engagement-ring-diamond-band.aspx

Managed to find out this is my gf's favorite setting, in platinum. Her ring size is 4.0 .
My first question would be related to the ring's melee diamonds - i've read on previous threads about this ring to specify accent stones of 5 pts, though I was told by one vendor that .035-.04 would be more than appropriate. Am I splitting hairs or should I insist on bigger accent stones? She really likes the look of the flower halo and i'm worried that smaller melees will make it look too round which she doesn't like.

Secondly, i'd love your opinions on the following two diamonds (or alternatives if you can find something would be even better!!)

A little note on preferences:
I'm fine to look at SI1 diamonds if they are eye clean, neither of us care about seeing things through a loupe but I want to make sure that the inclusions don't dull the diamond or affect brilliance.
A H&A round brilliant is the only cut i'm interested in.
For color - i'm still undecided on whether to choose F or G.
I think it would be worth sacrificing a bit of size for a F color diamond as I am very color sensitive but have been told that once set, especially with a platinum setting, there would be no way to tell the difference in color without a master stone to compare to..

Anyway, these are the two options I have found so far, would like to hear your opinions on which you think is better:

Will be a hard one to pick, if both are eye clean, I would go with the G to save money...either way both are top of the line AGSL Ideal H&A's...both are winners!!

Make sure your definition of eye clean meets your requirements. I would discuss settings with each of them, both are very easy to work with, they also will help with design and melee recommendations.

Yes, it just depends on whether it is worth it to you to spend $450 to go up one color grade. It's not a lot of money in the overall scheme of things, so it really boils down to your budget and how much the setting turns out to be.

I think 3-4 points is plenty big for that halo. Plenty of people here choose smaller than that...like 1 pointers for a more delicate look.
