Stock semi-mount for cushion

I am looking for a setting for a pink cushion tourmaline I just bought. Many of the stock/pre-made settings are princess or emerald cuts. If the dimensions of my stone are the same as the semi-mount, will it work? Or is there a depth/ thickness issue I am unaware of?

You are correct that you also have to consider the depth. All gemstones are naturally deeper than diamonds. Depending on how deep the pavilion is, it may fit but needs to be set higher in the mounting, or it might not fit at all.
