many of my friends are suggesting that i go with a simple cathedral mount, saying that larger stones look best alone. I was looking at a tacori antique style and the 3 stone classic with pear shaped diamonds on the sides. i don''t know what to do.

If you really can''t decide what to get, I would suggest going to your local B&M and looking at some in person. I found it very hard to get a good sense of things online because sometimes pictures don''t do them justice. If you go to one of the better B&M''s in your area, they should have catalogs from all of the major designers that they carry.

There are a LOT of settings I adore. But when I was trying to decide on my own the most important thing was to see the styles I was interested on my hand. Certain ones I really loved just underwelmed me once I saw them on me... which was weird because I''ve loved them on others. I say just go and do some intensive setting shopping. Try all the styles you like on and see what you like best on your hand. You might be surprised.

Unless you plan on loaning your ring out to your friends (in which case, hey hey, I''ll be your friend

), DON''T WORRY about what they would prefer. It''s not their ring, it''s yours!! Go try on some rings with a center stone approximately the size of yours and figure out which one sings to YOU. If you like antique or 3-stones with pears, try some on and see which ones look the best! Don''t just get what your friends tell you to get. Try out a bunch of different styles and figure out your preferences.

And try not to fret; this is supposed to be fun!
