Steven Kretchmer''s company

I was very sad to learn of Mr. Kretchmer''s passing.

I was wondering who is taking over his company.
Does anyone have any information?

We were all saddened by his sudden passing. He was a brilliant designer and the master of tension-set jewelry.

His wife was his business partner and primarily responsible for running business operations but I understand she is in poor health. I know the company employs a number of creative artists/jewelers who were all beneficiaries of his talent. I hope they continue strong.

Bill Pearlman was one of Kretchmer''s friends and may be able to give insight.
A memorial scholarship has been established in his memory. The Rhode Island School of Design will administer the endowment and receive contributions in his name.

Yes, the design industry lost a brilliant artist and friend. Steven was amazing. We would talk about a method of design and he would have it figured out in his head before the conversation ended. Nothing he could not do and actually did a lot of the intricate bench work himself. This is where the company will not be able to offer all of the custom it had before for only Steven could do the work. His wife Alma has been battling cancer for years and is holding on the best she can. She has very respected talent around her and it's probably a bit soon to tell where the company will head as we go forward.
