Okay, oddly, I just posted his quote earlier today in Person24's "How do you stay positive" thread. The collective subconscious is an amazing thing.

A life well lived that changed the world. RIP to a man I admired and respected.

Mr. Jobs was the Gutenberg/Edison of our time.

Born almost exactly 10 years after Steve Jobs, I was an early-adopter of his first Apple creations. Like many others I carry the latest iPhone with me today. He was responsible for moving the power of the computer from the laboratory to our laptops. His work enriched my abilities, my productivity, my philosophies and my life in general... As Apple's tribute reads, "The world is immeasurably better because of Steve."

It must have taken a virulent cancer to claim a man with such resources.

Thanks for all you did for mankind Mr. Jobs. We salute you.

This news hit me real hard - in part because he was such an innovator - in part because I so admire his courage, staying at the helm until almost the very end...

in part because one of my on-line friends started chemo for a brain tumor today, and this morning a colleague was called back to the doctor's office to check out a mass on her liver. Right now it just feels like cancer is winning.

He was a visionary and a genius. The ipod and itunes revolutionized music players, the iphone pretty much started the smartphone craze (there was Blackberry, but those were more for business users than "regular" people until the iphone came along), and the ipad brought the tablet back from limbo (remember the stylus-based tablets from a few years ago?). Except for my ipod classic, I'm not an Apple user (die-hard Android devotee), but I admire him for his undeniable contributions to technology. We've lost a great mind.

I knew this was coming, his resignation from Apple told me that but it was still a shock. He truly changed the world, certainly my world. I wasn't an early adopter of Apple products, but once I bought a first-gen iPod there was no turning back. His determination to make tech products that were both beautiful and easy to use was singular in an industry that cared about neither.

He is the reason I do what I do for a career, admittedly a poor choice as far as making a comfortable living lol

He is the reason I do a lot of things, risks taken, etc. The dude was the man, a god, a BRILLIANT inventor. He fought like hell. It sucks that even having all the money and resource on earth, sometimes the human body has other plans.

I was saddened to hear this. What a brilliant person, and how interesting he seemed to be from some of the quotes I've seen. It is a loss for this world. My he rest peacefully.
