Wedding STD Magnet vs. Card

What do you do with someone else''s wedding magnet?

  • Put it on the fridge when I get a chance, take it down as soon as the wedding has passed.

So, I''m looking to send out STDs and trying to decide if it is worth the use of a magnet. I don''t have any particularly creative ideas, and so would otherwise send out a personalized photo postcard. Now, I personally still have the STD magnets from friends who got married 3 or 4 years ago on my fridge. Is this abnormal? Do most people throw them away after the wedding, or even before the event?

i almost said clean surfaces, please, because mine is stainless steel, so i can''t put it anywhere! they collect on my dishwasher, and just don''t have the room!!!

I keep them up through the wedding, then I''d take them down and depending on level of closeness to the couple, keep them or toss them.

I''ve never gotten a STD magnet, so I''m voting on behalf of my friend. She has every wedding magnet on her fridge ever... but she''s still in college too. If it were me, I''d probably keep it there until the wedding was over unless I was really close to the couple and it was a pretty magnet.

You know, if it is just the date and some obscure stock image I toss after the wedding... or toss after I send the gift and decline if I can''t make it.
But if it is a cute picture of the couple on the magnet, I''ll keep that forever. It is nice to have friendly reminders of happy times and pretty people!

I keep the magnet or the invitation or the STD. They all are stuck on the fridge until about a month after the wedding, then into the scrapbook or photo album. I am a sentimental person though.

I keep them on my fridge. I actually never take them down.

I love magnet STDs! We keep them, especially if it has a photo of the couple.

We did post cards and people have been asking us for info that was ON the cards because they didn''t SAVE the cards

I have to be honest, I throw away all STDs soon after I get them!

We don''t put anything on our fridge and the paper STDs just end up in a pile of clutter, so they usually get tossed as well. I usually just mark the date either mentally or on a calendar and don''t really need a magnet/card hanging around for months to remind me of the date.

We also don''t go to TOO many weddings... so the ones we do go to are for close friends and we don''t have a hard time remembering the dates. For those that go to lots of weddings per year, I can understand keeping them around as a reminder!

Thanks for your explanations ladies. I''ve decided that since on average of reviewing this poll, 50% of you toss em, to go the more economical route of cards and redirect the saved money to yummy letterpress invites.
