Hello all,
35.gif

I was referred to PS about a week ago and ever since then, it has been non stop reading. I have a long long way to go and this figures to be the beginning of a two month process or researching and purchasing my first engagement ring. So I am sure I will be posting much more and asking a ton of questions as I go along.

But so far, I have browsed through a handful of the internet retailers just to get an idea of what is offered and prices. The two main ones I was looking at were James Allen and Whiteflash. And on JA, I found a ring that fits exactly what I am looking for. On the other hand, I have read so many good things about the quality and price of the diamonds from Whiteflash.

So my question is, do people usually purchase the ring and diamond from the same place just to make things easier. If i were to work with both retailers, would that neglect anything such as warranty, refunds...etc.

Also, is there a real difference between the diamonds offered from JA and Whiteflash?

JA carries great diamonds. I think they don''t sell their settings alone, so you would have to go with them if you want their setting.

I''m sure the other members of this board will be able to answer your question about voiding warranties if you buy from 2 separate vendors.. but I just wanted to recommend Good Old Gold in your search as well. They have a lifetime upgrade policy and carry wonderful diamonds.

I''ve only purchased earrings from WF before but they were wonderful to work with. Think about calling them to answer some of your questions.

Welcome to Pricescope!

Yes, usually buyers purchase the diamond and the setting from the same place. This can be easier for a number of reasons, plus the vendor will normally take responsibility for the diamond while being set, in case of damage to the stone ( rare.) So if you wanted to buy the diamond from one vendor, and have another set it, you would need to clarify if the diamond would be covered against breakage or damage while being set, and also how this could affect any warranty, and a return period/ refund etc.

Not too much if you stick to their H&A selection. Otherwise, yes, there will be a bigger difference.

The ladies have answered your other questions. Good luck!
