A fellow Pricescoper posted some pictures of settings from this company. I did a quick search here and nothing came up. They have some gorgeous pieces but I found it interesting that there isn't much info about them. Just curious if anyone has any experience with this company..

thanks..

Stardust Diamonds

Nope, but the pictures on their website are friggin'' gorgeous!

Not sure if this is useful, but they are one of the designers featured in the design gallery on debeers site "a diamond is forever". If you have a look, you might get some other views of their jewelry. You select search by designer when in the design gallery.
They have some amazing designs!

I agree the designs are amazing..it's the workmanship/quality i'm curious about..
i also find it interesting that it seems as if none of the PS vendors carry the line

don't know if that means anything or not?

thanks for your responses

I wonder if they are sold only to vendors, then they sell them as in house designs or something like that.

I know a jeweler here in Houston who designs and makes gorgeous stuff, then sells it to local big name jewelry stores and they market it as their own.

i guess it''s possible, but the local vendor who carries them in my area has them listed as a designer they carry not an in house design...

It may be that they do not allow their products to be sold on-line. I know that some companys are concerned with appearing to be less exclusive. It also helps avoid price compairisions. I am still drooling over the pear halo, generally not a halo fan but with pears.

Some of them remind be fairly strongly of rings from other designers though.

that could be, but many of the vendors here have B&M''s so why wouldn''t they carry them in their stores?

I haven''t heard of them before, but when I did a dealer locator for my area, I did find that they are carried by the nicer stores...stores that also carry big name designer settings like Michael B and Daniel K, etc.

Becuase some brands will not work with any vendor who sells something online as a rule. They think it lowers the value of their name.

Same with my region. Only four jewelers came up and all are high end.

ok, well i might buy that if they were a designer/company i''d heard of. i could understand micheal b not wanted to be sold at the same place as daniel k but they are both well repected high profile designers, even they don''t do this..i.e several e-vendors carry them both...

so far we know
-they are involved with debeers

-are sold at high end jewelry stores...

i''ll keep researching, if you guys come up with anything please let me know.

their settings look to be gorgeous so why is it so hard to verify

As promised I went to Jack Kelmmer Company for the sweet mrssalvo and they only had one of their settings. I asked Susan to bring in some more from their other 2 stores and told her what I was doing. Just looking for a friend. She is the best. Then she grabs my hand and was amazed at the asscher. She hadn''t seen it yet. Everyone in the store died over it. Ok sorry mrssalvo, that''s the scoop for now. The one setting they did have was very lovely and had baguettes in it.

I called the local jeweler near me that carries that line to do some investigating.
2.gif
He said his store just started carrying this line about a year ago or so and that the company generally likes to be at only one jeweler in the area, I assume kind of creating an "exclusivity" air about them. He said the workmanship is very good, along the lines of Scott Kay (who he also carries) but not as pricey. He didn''t have many of their e-ring pieces in stock but several necklaces.

Mrs Salvo you misunderstood me. I dont think they care about the other brands being offered, but rather the medium through which they are sold. The world in general is still hesitent about buying things online, they look at it as a cheaper way of doing things. It is a form of snobbery, but in a way logical.

Matatora- now i see what you''re saying, thanks for the clarification

i put out of couple of emails that i''m waiting to hear back on..i''ll keep you guys posted..

Mrssalvo,

I got a reply via email from Ari at Stardust. Expressed my experience of not getting a return call on a price through my local retailers. Ari was very disappointed to hear that. This is the statement made after I wrote my concern that the retail price must be higher than others and that was why I had not gotten a reply:

"Our line is very high end, everything is
manufactured in the USA, and the handmade collection especially is pricey
because it is completely handmade which brings the price way up there. We
are working on making some of these same looks with casting to bring the
price down for consumers" -end quote from Ari Stardust

The n1709 my love...is well...you ready for this? For my 2 carat round it would be $7,000 suggested retail
6.gif
. Granted suggested is suggested...so there may be afew lucky ones that may get a better suggestion...I still so love the ring though. Ari suggested I look at the n-1021-2 on the site as it is similar and is only $4000 suggested retail. The reason of the price difference is that it is cast and not handmade.

Ari also was pleased to hear of the discussion on PS. Expressing that they are a small company and it was hard to get the word out about their line. I was quite impressed with the email. It was extensive in detail and I believe this company is eager to please.

I am sorry to have gotten the board all lathered up...it sounds as if the prices may be close to the Michael Barin line. Which I thought that pavillion ring was the end until I learned it was $16,000...it was pave paradise...but I would rather go to paradise and buy a lesser priced ring to wear while there.

Hope that info helped...

DKS

mrssalvo, did you have any luck today at the jewelers or were they closed???

Door knob- thanks so much for the information, that helps a lot just giving us a ball park figure for price. the fact that they are small also explains why there isn''t much info on the net about them.

kaleigh- i wasn''t able to get there but am planning on going asap.

what did you think of the workmanship of the setting you saw compared to a daniel k? worth a $7000k pricetag? how was it compared to your new asscher?
31.gif

The setting I saw wasn''t any of the one''s the DKS posted so my jury is still out. Susan is bringing in some more for me to see, so can''t say yet. Daniel K is incredible, but as the people said today, they were absolutely floored at my asscher. It was passed all around the store for everyone to see. They louped it and everything. Hands down they said it was one of the nicest custom job''s they had ever seen. They asked who did it and even wrote down Quests info!!!

Wow, thanks for that info DNS. Sounds like you got a different response than I did from my local jeweler as far as price was concerned.

I heard back from my jeweler who said he''s familar with the company but doesn''t know much about them. He thinks there settings are good quality along the same lines as simon g, and are just starting to become more known along the branded lines.

interesting about the price difference between what pebbles found out and DKS. I wonder if there is a lot of difference between vendors...

anyway, it sounds like they make a very nice product.

Pebbles,

What did you learn? Forgive me if it was already addressed...I wasn''t able to locate the comment. Spill the beans!!

Mrssalvo,

My local finally called me back. Their store "suggests" $6400. I told him I thought I liked the Stardust as it had a bright finish as asposed to the antique milligrain that the Jack Kelege has that was my other choice...he said he really didn''t know...

Then 30 minutes later he called back, I missed the call, but the message was he has learned alot more about that company....

drum rolll......more later will post after I talk to him

Door Knob- this is what peebles found out. her jeweler said the price is less than scott kay who runs about 1/2 of price startdust told you. maybe the prices from her jeweler were for simple pieces rather than the pave smothered ones you posted which might eplain the large price range. i can''t wait to hear what other info you come up with. thank you so much, this thread will be helpful for others looking in the future as well.

Thank you, Ari! Welcome!

Well! That answers a few questions...except one...how did all the jewelry freaks around here manage to miss your yummy wares for so long!

Welcome Ari and thank you so much for posting and answering many of our questions. Your settings are very beautiful and I look forward to seeing and hearing more about your company. I do understand an appreciate the fact the settings are handmade in the USA and how the price will break down differently for such a product. again, thank you and welcome

Ari,
Hi and a big welcome to PS!!! Jack kellmer''s carries your line but only had one of your settings in the Haverford PA store. They are getting more in for me to see. They are lovely, and look forward to seeing them in person.
